I think the situation Bernie is aluding to is similar to mine (and a lot of other people). There are 5 people on the payroll where I work. In order of $alary: President, Vice President, Shop Manager, employee, and Office Manager. Of the 5, the only one's that actually do billable work are the Shop Manager and employee. The President comes in 4 hours a day (to get away from the Vice President, for the most part). His duties involve reading his email+watching anti muslim videos his friends send him, Skyping his friends (on the employee's work computer), and walking around bitching about profits (we're actually swamped with work at the moment). The Vice President shows up once a month to look at the number at the bottom of the page. The Office Manager is there for half days, and spends half of those on the phone to family+friends, doing paperwork for a second job, or trying to win some CFRB $$$ contest online. So in a nutshell, 65% of the company's wages are going to non-functional or partially functional employees. Do I care? Not a lot. My cheque's never bounced, and it's a reasonable number on it. Just don't tell me the company can't afford consumables to keep the business going or perks that were agreed upon as wage incentives upon employment. I'm not as dumb as I look. I know where all the money's going.
