Another hit to our economy.....

I run and own a business 100 percent....with 1000's of clients and 25 employees but I'm delusional on how most work places function...ok!

Clearly you know how ALL businesses operate then? Right?

Many yes...the benefit of having many clients is I see all types. Also if you read above I gave the start up money to 2 people who started and are currently runnning successful businesses and I do see their operations as well. Satisfied?

China owns Canada and USA ***. If China stops buying our bonds. Well the SH_T hits the fan. You don't want to anger the real owners of North America by boycotting Chinese products.

Great, let's officially embargo China. That'll teach them a lesson!

Here we go again. Heinz has been a fixture and economic arm of the Leamington and surrounding area and now it's coming to an end. Some jobs moving to St. Mary's but not all of them....

I can fully appreciate and sympathize as i lose my job in 38 days in a similar scenario here in toronto.

Sorry to hear about your upcoming job loss. It happens so often these days. It is not a reflection on you.

You might want to check out the website http://www.beatresumesystems.com. There are some useful tips on putting together an effective resume, including how to take advantage of key words that will be picked up by the search engines used to scan resumes.

Good luck in your search.

Just out of curiosity, what types of businesses did you help set up?

Thanks K1200RS. The search has been going slow but hopefully will pick up in the near future. I'll be posting in the 'laid off' section here shortly!

Not sure why it's funny do you own a business or have helped people start any? Between my business and these 2 we employ 37 people and generate over 25 million in sales .If you have contributed more to employment in Ontario I would love to hear it.

I think the point goes back to your statement of "a business is a business".
All business's are not considered equal. A person running a lemon aid shop, or a flower shop with 5 employees faces very different challenges than a manufacturing facility that employs 1000 people. The flower shop owners skills and opinions wouldnt get them very far at the manufacturing facility.

Well that isn't true at all. I have clients who do 1 million in revenue and some that do over a billion. The challenges and complaints are exactly the same just on a larger scale. Finding good people, customer loyalty, banking, competition. And even if you discount that, the size of my business , revenue ,income etc.places me at he top 5 percent of companies in Canada or higher and therefore I can speak to a business is a business.

When Berkshire and 3G picked up Heinz, it was no secret they were going to apply zero based budgeting across the entire company. Leamington had some great things going for it with implemented infrastructure and cheap and established access to raw product and services. The biggest point against Leamington was that the significant production of the factory's products were/are being shipped to US which was eating the bottom line. With the transportation rate already being high with fuel costs only getting higher, it was an easy economic decision to move the production down south.

I feel bad for the employees...hopefully some enterprising soul can see the factory and services for what it is and lay down some investment cause I'm sure you can probalby squeeze out a profit it aligned right.
