Afghanistan has fallen

I know what Humvees are. What are MRAPs and ScanEagle drones?

MRAP is similar to LAV (light armored vehicle) or APC (armored personnel carrier). I'm not enamored enough with military acronyms to know the differences (or lack thereof) between those.

ScanEagle is a Boeing surveillance drone. Well, drone used loosely. It's an unmanned aerial vehicle with wings. Some would argue that's not a drone. I just lump things that fly without people in them as drones.

There are a lot of similar videos/photos. It would take work to fake. Horrible for people to be that desparate. There were lot of people that were sitting on the wheel well doors. As soon as they closed, there would have been nothing to hang on to. I am sure what we haven't seen will be as bad or worse.

Darwin award recipients. They are not desperate, just dumb. With no schooling, no internet, no common sense, understanding how things work is just not there. If they can cling on top of the moving train and survive, they think same applies to airplanes. Don't call them brave either, they leave behind mothers, wifes, daughters as they mean to them very little, new pair of running shoes has more value.
Brave and honour thing to do would be protecting your loved ones as long as you can, and die if you have to. Afgan "army" collaborating with Talibs well in advance is another form of low. Two decades of support, money and training result in giving up without the fight. Those people cannot be trusted, and it's hard for Biden, Trudeau etc to understand that.

History repeats itself. Anyone here old enough to remember watching this on TV?

A good friends roommate was a draft dodger. Those were difficult times. I was 22.

Was that one going somewhere or were they just hanging out on the off chance it took off? I wonder how well a passenger plane would behave if loaded like that military transport. Cargo bay is hopefully empty but still, that is a lot of weight in bodies and it would be hard to figure out weight and balance to ensure you wouldn't become a lawn dart shortly after takeoff.

No idea tbh.

Also I've read that Afghan military fled to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan using 24 military aircrafts and 22 helicopters.

"Brave" and desperate enough to try and ride a plane to safety, but not brave and desperate enough to pick up a weapon and defend your country.
The president fleeing ahead of everyone else tells me all I need to know about these people.

Correction 22 aircrafts and 24 helis - still cannot edit post.
The old PM should have been more resourceful. Apparently he showed up at the airport with millions in cash but apparently not big bills as it was something like four vehicles worth of duffle bags. Most got left at the airport as they didn't fit in his escape aircraft.

Anyone else find it odd most of the large conflict zones today are where the brits were?
(india/pakistan, israel palistine, hong kong/china, afghanistan, etc etc etc)

All crisp $100 US bills. He had been stealing money for a decade.
That doesn't add up. 1M in 100's is ~25 lbs. There was apparently 5M left behind which was entire vehicles full of cash. So he either had smaller bills or left >100M behind. The second option is a distinct possibility. Send out a press release that he was stealing but keep 99% for yourself before you send out the release.
