2024 Day Trips

What a beautiful morning for a ride! 250km through Mono, Hockley, Caledon, and FOTC.

Happy to report the scrambler is SOOOO much better at the higher preload. Like a different bike! But too damn high sprung so I may drop down a few notches.

The windshield wobbled like a mofo above 120kph as @Mad Mike mentioned…but night and day compared to before. I’ll have to reinforce it somehow.

Good to finally ride with @oioioi.

Thank for the invite.
Great ride.
Discovered some new "local" roads that are worth the drive for for.

You are not as slow as you say you are.

Good to see the bike being riden. (y)

Did a 800km day trip around Calabogie. Nothing new, just haven't been there in a couple of years so on Friday evening I put together something quickly. Posting the route in case it helps anyone. Taken from Shane's big maps of Ontario.

Stopped at Flinton falls for the first time though I have been around that area a few times.

Also saw this little guy there.

The road from Calabogie to Griffith and all the way to Bancroft was nice. So was the ride down to Havelock. During one of the corners when I was leaned over (nothing crazy) a van was turning left further ahead. I had enough distance to roll off and scrub the speed. Not the van's fault and all was good. Just a reminder that lots of things can be out of our control. Ride safe everyone!

A group of us did an over night trip to Pembroke and back on Sunday-Monday. Eastbound via 118 (blue, 531km) and westbound via 60 through Algonquin (purple, 472km). I finally remembered to take a few pics at Whitney on the return trip. Note there is a section of 117 between the branches of Old 117 that is under construction. It's currently an oil/gravel mixture and operating as a single lane with an escort vehicle through the zone. Other than that the rest of the route had only a few construction zones that were not too bad with little to no delay.

Hey, can I get some suggestions about nice and interesting places to visit near Toronto, maybe within a two-hour drive? I understand the roads within that distance may not be great riding wise.

I'm off work on Friday, and if it's not raining heavily, I'd like to go for a ride to clear my mind.

Where do you live?

I have a nice route from Oakville that meanders around the Burlington and Waterdown area if you wanted - it’s about 3 hours long and you can stop all along it if you see things you find interesting.

That’s the route I do if I don’t have time for a ride up north.

I live in East York. I don't mind going West. I’d appreciate it if you could share the route with me.

I’d be interested in that route also Shane!

Went out yesterday morning with the hopes that the long weekend crowd must have settled. People who are leaving the city must have already reached their destination and people who are staying in might not venture out as it's a Sun. My guesses these days are as good as the weather forecast lol. It was a great day to ride though.

Was hoping for a 5-6 hour ride that became an 8-9 hour ride. Again, no new routes, just one of the ones that I pulled from Shane's big map. Below is the route in case anyone would benefit.

For every ride, I try to squeeze in a road that I have not been to or can't remember having been to. This time it was Blairhampton. Wouldn't recommend. Lots of gravel, and loose asphalt particles on the road. Hwy 35 from Pine Springs to Dwight was a hoot to ride, a BMW 330i (E46 I believe) became the pace car. Kushog Lake Rd was in great shape, and very technical (and scary). Aspdin Rd was fun, finished the ride off with Southwood Rd.

The skyline park was busier than usual. I remember a couple of years ago, it used to be just me and maybe one more visitor, and I used to ride there very often.

is that a cfmoto?

Nice ride out to the forks yesterday. The Higher Ground shop has changed owners. I wasn't impressed.
B wanted some photo op's so we went down to Mclaren Rd and found this decommissioned railway bridge that has been painted. Very cool!
