I don't think your situation is much different in principle than other government departments, federal, provincial or municipal. The weasel factor is enormous.I'm not sure of the ratio currently, but many employees are temps (me), our wage is $22 or less. Once hired, permanent full time it takes at least 7 years currently to break $30. We could discuss benefits/pension etc, but i don't know enough about the perks at competitors to have that discussion.
Canada Post apparently had no problems paying out management bonuses this year, last year and so on. Why is the corporation rewarding management while on the other hand lying to employees and obfuscating the ongoing issues to the public. I can tell you that we have a shortage of normal delivery trucks. I know because there's a fleet of rental RAM trucks in the parking lot and I get handed the keys to those whenever we run out. And when we run out of those I sit in the depot for 2+ hours doing nothing. Did we buy 100 EV pickup trucks? Why.
Many people should probably be fired. The one's who want to sit on their phone, do the minimum, or over retirement age with full pensions should probably be forced to part time or out.
Coming from the private sector the waste at CP is nuts. But from what I can see, unless its a safety issue management does not reward or want to entertain a conversation about improving processes. They want you to do your shift and get out.
Likely it will eventually get to a processing plant here and sit.So what happens?
I got an email from a relative in New Zealand the she had just posted me a parcel. Is it held in storage in NZ pending settlement or does it languish here upon arrival?
From what I understand, it will get sent to customs for review and then get sent to a customs warehouse for CP pick up when the strike is over.So what happens?

Use freightcom or ship time and you can send that UPS or Purolator around 10 dollars. Published rates are insaneI do miss CP. I've got a few things on their way to me stuck until the strike is resolved.
I use Express Post to send an envelope within Ontario a few times a year. Usually about $16 - $18. Yesterday had to use Purolator. Cost was $64.
If I was able to get what they may get, I’d be onside and on the line with them .
I like the printed statement via CP as well. I check my accounts online regularly but with the paper copy it's easier to match the stubs. I do check those against the statement as a gas station attendant once thought they could buy some show tickets on my card.My morning discomfort, I’ve used joint credit cards ( three of them) with wife for 20yrs . It’s usually open the mail and decode who owes what and pay the statement. So today I’m juggling getting online so we don’t miss anything , incur interest or wreck our credit rating . Yes I could have been doing online statements for years , I like paper . But once again CP is inconvenienced me . The last two weeks has me rethinking a lot of my choices .
But don’t get me wrong , yes I have typed some mean spirited things in this thread, and I hold the actual posties Zero accountable for this crap. If I was able to get what they may get, I’d be onside and on the line with them . I just hate unions .

I pray they tell the union to take those requests and shove it.How many members/immediate family are going to benefit from the demand for gender reassignment costs coverage in the benefits? That has to be a sacrificial "we'll drop this demand but refuse to move on the x% /yr. demand" tactic.
Or the union has been hijacked by a bunch of Fred Hahntypesloons.
Not only the unions but also the Liberal Party, the Democrats etc. We are starting to see push back. Trump is back. JT is hanging on by a thread held by the NDP.How many members/immediate family are going to benefit from the demand for gender reassignment costs coverage in the benefits? That has to be a sacrificial "we'll drop this demand but refuse to move on the x% /yr. demand" tactic.

It's also pretty slimey;Apparently CP has started laying people off as they are without a contract. Not sure if that is going to be a permanent restructuring or if it's just killings pawns in the game.

As Black Friday looms, Canada Post lays off employees over the phone
Around 55,000 employees have been on strike since Nov. 15www.sootoday.com
While I agree that it's slimey, it seems like they are probably in good shape legally. You aren't canning them because they participate in the strike. You are canning them because you have no work they can do and they have no contract to protect them. Hurts moral though for those that remain. If CP was smart, they would use this opportunity to clean out some dead wood up the tree. You were hired to manage people, there are no people to manage, here's your severance.
