Your home is not your castle

From a logical standpoint it makes sense.

Say you are boarded up in your house like Fort Knox. You suffer a minor stroke and all the energy you can muster up is to call 9-1-1. They show up and can't get in your house. Things worsen for you, such as going further into your stroke, or worse, you find out that meat you planned on having for dinner has freezer burn.

Medics still can't get in your house. You either die, or suffer serious head injury, or brain damage, or **** your pants, and you can't move. Finally after 6 hours they get into your house. They had to rent a bulldozer to knock down a wall of your house so they could get in.

So not only are you dead/in a coma/ severely injured/ covered in ****, your house is destroyed and the medics/contruction company/fire dept/police are all ****** off that your stupid house was locked up like a bank.

Makes sense to me.

Plus, who wouldn't want to be robbed these days? You know how much insurance companies pay out?

Last thing we want is for the gov't to make decisions for us.

I'm an adult thank you, I can make my own decisions

Holy bunch of bull crap in that post. Lol

How exactly are the police supposed to check if my windows are bulletproof? Drive by and shoot at them?

If people barricade themselves into their homes, it's their own damn fault if the firemen or cops can't get in when they need help.

Remember that we live in a nanny state that is constantly looking out for ways to protect us from ourselves. I could use my hands to kill myself. Therefore, they should be handcuffed behind my back on a permanent basis.

I've seen enough action movies to know that handcuffs are never sufficient lol.

Stop giving the gov't ideas, you know they will do it

If we've learnt anything from movies it's double-tap to the head, of the serial killer will get you in the next scene.

No way, there are never double tap in the movies.
Its always hit him and make a run for it. As a bonus they always run without taking his gun, so he can later catch up with you and shoot u in the back

Well you don't see the same guy always coming back after The Transporter, when he puts them down with a gun.

Well I guess it depends on what movie we're talking about.
Here's a classic example of double tap:

This is a regular problem for emergency services responding.

And for your kids and anyone else in your home too? I suppose you won't sue either when the EMS unit can't access your place. Good for you but that isn't what normally happens. People barricade themselves in then get all pissy when the fire service can't get to them to put out their fires.

Also, firefighters entering your house aren't expecting it to be a sealed prison. If they have to bail out and find that all the windows are in fact barred, they die. I'm not in favour of that. I suppose you could put up a sign at the roadway saying "thanks, but due to paranoia we have opted out of having any protection provided by our community. EMS, police and fire can ignore any emergencies at this address".

Holy bunch of bull crap in that post. Lol

Tell that to the fire department that had to cut the bars off the window to get the kid's body out of the basement in Ottawa a year or so ago. Kid couldn't get out of the bedroom because dad had locked the place down with bars on every window.

And... barricading your home will not stop the cops from getting in. You may slow them down but you won't stop them from getting in.

Barricading your home in most cases has nothing to do with the cops. It's to keep your home safe from burglary so they move onto a softer target. Also, laminated glass protects your property from vandalism. There are many legitimate reasons why a homeowner would want to secure their premises. If the homeowner is willing to risk them being inaccessible to the emergency services, it's his/her choice. The government shouldn't make it for us.

I think I can make a decision on whats best for me and my family. I think I would know them more that some gov't who have never set foot in my home let alone seen any of my family members.

I don't see how dumb a person can be if they barricade all their exits without it being abled to be opened from the inside. I am not saying I'm going to build a bunker, but something with wrought iron on the lower windows of the house would be great.

While growing up, my parents' home had wrought iron all over the windows, 3 german shepherds, and my dad had a revolver. I felt safe and sound

Yup, you're right, I'll leave all my windows and doors open so that 1 in a million chance EMS needs to get into my house they will be able to. I'll try not to be so inconsiderate next time.

what happened to the good old saying "for the good of the many?"

designing things for that one in a million chance is what has brought us to this ****ed up state anyways....Because ONE Hells Angels compound is raising the cops eyebrows they go and make a law that will inconvenience tens of thousands of people and take away their rights and freedoms...

People really need to stop being so damn politically correct and verbally ***** slap those idiots that are always yelling "THINK OF THE CHILDREN" and being serious about it.

I've said it many times, the world is overpopulated and we're not helping things out by not allowing the nature to take its course.
