Y'all might want to keep an eye out for change of plans. Stealth Covid BA.2

EDIT: Or...I would buy 500k worth of bouncy castles, start a bouncy castle rental business and live off the grift forever. My cost is zero...so it's all profit.
you forget about lawsuits...

Imo, beds aren't the problem, staffing is. It makes no sense to add more beds when you don't have enough staff to properly deal with the ones you have. Getting more staff is a long-term problem (although he has exacerbated it with Bill 124 which resulted in a lot of very competent nurses leaving the profession).
I might be living in a bubble. My daughter needed knee surgery last year. She saw an orthopod in 1 week and was in recovery 2 weeks later. She did get a cancellation slot, the second one they offered her inside a 2-week window. I had a bad fall and needed emerg care for stitches and a fracture, in and out in a few hours, follow-up with an ortho in 5 days.

Then we hear about nursing shortages and how the province has done nothing, and how nurses are dropping like flies. From what I can see most media deal in anecdotal quotes from unions and from regions that may not have been managing their HR as effectively as they should.

My daughter, a nurse, tells me she has no nursing friends leaving, or contemplating leaving the profession. Then she sent me some stats from the nursing college -- real stats that seem to cast some suspicion on the fear-mongering https://www.cno.org/globalassets/2-.../membership-statistics-report-2021-final.html:

By my math, Dougie reversed the slide, under his watch the number of RNs has increased annually. Since taking office the number has increased by 8.5% Compare that to 4 prior Wynner's term where Ontario added 5% to the nursing roster.

Now lets look deeper into the details. Wynne lost 4000 RNs, about 4% of RNs, those are the ones that handle complex and high acuity caseloads. Dougie added back 3900 RNs, about 3.5% gain.

RNs -- the folks that deal in high acuity - their only gain was RPNs, nurses who do not handle complex medical situations.

That sounds like a problem for a numbered corporation...I joke.

Can't I just setup some type of waivers 'if you're an idiot, or your kids are idiots, I'm not responsible? Make sure you wear PPE at all times...don't wear PPE...your problem'?

Because he doesn't care or want to enough to use it for the intended purpose. He'll use it for whatever he thinks will buy him the most votes.

As @GreyGhost he can't win. Doesn't mean it's right to just sit on it and do nothing.
Or maybe because the Ottawa cash cannon overshot? Here's how Toronto Mayor responded to the criticism:

"One complaint I won't have when this is all said and done ... is that the other governments haven't been responsive to Toronto's needs during the pandemic," Tory said.

Fiscal responsibility is viewed a bit differently different between JT and DF. Personally, I'd like to see the requisite funds spent on the job -- which by all accounts DF did. I see no need for him to sprinkle the excess around just because JT's cash dump truck dropped off too many bags of cash.

I was invited out for St. Paddy's drinks tonight downtown....I chose not to go.

Have a great excuse nowadays...gut is wonky still, and kids in the house that are unvaccinated.

I'll enjoy a beverage at home tonight.
A beverage... as in one??

If you want to celebrate like a true Mick, you won't stop drinking until passed out or jailed. I always thought a Polaks could hang with Micks at the bar.

We could...but I need to be up at 5:30 tomorrow to get into the office...maybe Friday I'll have a FEW more beverages!

Can't remember the last time I passed out...and I'm sure I've never been jailed.

Maybe he's still on happy drugs from the surgery. Narcotics reduce the number of drinks required to get to your end state.

I am very happy to be wrong if the funds went to where they need to be administered to support the towns/cities and what they were required for.

I also am not a believer that DF does what is 'right' but, as many other politicians, will do what helps his cause moving forward. And if it helps get through COVID in a better light, bonus. Maybe I'm just getting jaded and sitting in this basement is getting to me.

Nope. Stopped taking the painkillers 2 days after I got home. Not needed. I think I have 2-3 pills left. But they're not the good stuff T3 or anything stronger.

Or maybe he needs to sell the minivan.

Told ya

Our local hospital is extremely understaffed with people off sick. It’s the worst it’s been in recent times apparently. Classes at the university are 10%+ down in attendance in many courses with some pushing 20-30.

“Learning to live with COVID” appears to be giving us some very difficult lessons.

Idiot politicians.

Well, after escaping it for 2 years, boom, I got the vid. Tested positive today after becoming symptomatic last night.

3 Shots onboard and my symptoms are akin to a bad cold for the most part honestly, but it is what it is I guess - with my gamut of health issues there's a very decent chance I'd be one of the hospitalization statistics had I not been vaccinated.

I'd rather get it now and move on with life than in May when I've got some big rides planned, I guess.

Sorry to hear.

Taste and smell gone?
