Y'all might want to keep an eye out for change of plans. Stealth Covid BA.2

But he hasn't really done anything to prepare us for another surge...no new health care facilities, no additional spending to increase ICU capacity, zero...sure he gave a few $/hr to workers...but overall he had 2+ years to prepare the province/healthcare for more surgers...he didn't.
If the past couple of years hasn't taught the population how to stay safe, what is he supposed to do?

Keep being a responsible parent? Just because my kids aren't listening doesn't mean I stop telling them to behave. I believe things wouldn't be lifting so fast without an impending election. For instance, keep masks in schools for at least a few weeks post march break as tons of kids have travelled and hung out mask free with many random people in the last week. Kids and teachers are used to it at this point, two more weeks would have no negative effect and may have some positive effect (eg only 10% of a class gets infected instead of 80%).

I'm talking about the billions he received from the feds for healthcare that he did not use. There's been no new ICU beds, no new healthcare spending over the course of the pandemic.

While you can't get everyone vaccinated, the funds are there...he's just not using them for healthcare.

He, and every other gov't, have had 2+ years of this to prepare and upgrade / modernize the system to be able to deal with the surges. Whether it's further manufacturing facilities within the Province, new healthcare, more doctors, more ICU beds...anything...I'm not aware of any new expansions of health system capacities to be able to deal with this reality. Someone correct me where I'm wrong as I'd love to be wrong.

Granted, if you expand the capacity and it's NOT needed then people complain about 'wasted' money. But we're not there...we are worse off than before.

When patients are waiting in hallways...that's a problem. When we wait 4-6 months for an MRI...that's a problem. When I'm lying in a hospital bed and my doctor has to push my surgery because there's no one else to deal with other issues on the floor...that's a problem.

Doug has had the tools provided, he just refuses to use them for whatever reason.

Imo, beds aren't the problem, staffing is. It makes no sense to add more beds when you don't have enough staff to properly deal with the ones you have. Getting more staff is a long-term problem (although he has exacerbated it with Bill 124 which resulted in a lot of very competent nurses leaving the profession).

Agreed. Although I did mention 'more doctors'.

You're right, but it's also a chicken and egg thing...do you get more capacity before you hire more nurses / doctors...or do you hire more nurses / doctors and then increase the capacity / beds?

Building new facilities takes more time than hiring. Start the build, start the hiring / training and get them up to speed in existing facilities while new facilities are being built.

Neither has been done.

My understanding is we are probably not too bad in hospitals but we need to do a better job at step-down care. We need a level of care below hospital where we can transfer people out to free up expensive hospital beds. Lots of people do not need to be in a hospital but the step down to live at home is too big so they stay in hospital. A hospital for most people should be a quick transition site, many people spend a long time in there (which creates bed shortages as you can never have enough for every sick/injured person in the province).

Way more political runway for the war than COVID

Our Government really does but have to do anything other than show up for Photo Ops and hand out money. 5 ministers in Europe last week.

JT’s popularity is climbing again and now going back to Europe with Biden to ramp up further.

Last thing he wants to do is to be talking about COVID or putting restrictions in place.
JT must have the biggest carbon footprint of any leader in the entire world... you just don't see other world leaders country hopping the way he does for pretty much NO REASON at all. Maybe he can add another carbon tax for us to pay and offset his footprint for him.

MRI Clinic group buy?
If I had the money I would buy a building and push to get medical facilities within it.

My old 6 plex may have been able to be converted to a medical facility...would've been perfect. I actually toyed with the idea of making it a retirement community, but there's a whole lot of paperwork to deal with that.

I actually tried to buy this place many years ago as it's sat vacant...worth a goldmine now. Even after the eventual total teardown...

4th Street and Emerald Cres.

would've made an awesome retirement community, medical office, or general house.

No one has. Wonder why?

Preparation is expensive and thankless (either it is never needed and you get hammered for waste or exponential growth hits again and all the extra money only bought you three extra days of capacity). It will be interesting to see what Douggie does with the federal money. I can't see him leaving it in the pot, he must have a pre-election plan to get it spent (cough buy votes).

No one has. Wonder why?
Because he doesn't care or want to enough to use it for the intended purpose. He'll use it for whatever he thinks will buy him the most votes.

As @GreyGhost he can't win. Doesn't mean it's right to just sit on it and do nothing.

Yeah maybe. Or maybe there’s more red tape then we know

It is actually rising fast right now in the rest of the world I think we will pay a price for this. But people are tired of following rules so the rules are going away.

Sent using a thumb maybe 2
Immigration requirements etc? We can't discriminate against anyone so we hit everyone with the same hammer or feather.

If I gave you 500k but on the basis you could only spend it on bouncy castles..

Friend of friend thing but the guy has Lewy Body disease, a form of dementia. He's in a hospital and due to spasms and tremors he has to be restrained and that upsets him.

His wife can't take care of him at home.

He doesn't need hospital care

His wife can't stay at the hospital

He gets more upset when she's not there

The hospital wants him out and is threatening massive daily fees to make it happen

LTC doesn't want him because of the restraints required

Solution????

Then I would buy bouncy castles, and then sell them on the secondary market for half price...I'm up 250k and others have half price bouncy castles.

EDIT: Or...I would buy 500k worth of bouncy castles, start a bouncy castle rental business and live off the grift forever. My cost is zero...so it's all profit.

Pointing the finger at Doug Ford for Ontario's healthcare problems....

He's just the latest Premier to take that for a test drive, the other two parties have all had time at the wheel also and left it in as-is unsaleable condition.

Ford's just repaying the favor....
