Working out! Fitness! Nutrition!

Thanks brother! Don't worry you got this... Ya winston looks great... But at the end of the day he is also new to the scene... Still needs to build a relationship with the organization..

So you're suggesting that a competitor's "connections" (who you know, etc.) in the organization and his past record can affect his standings at a contest? I hope you're wrong, cause that's what I call a bias and politics and I don't think these things have a place in bodybuilding competition. It should be purely about who has the best physique. I hope the IDFA is better than that.

I agree with you.. But as the past few months have gone by.. I have heard and a witnessed a few questionable things.. Maybe I'm wrong but certain things do not add up sometimes.. Won't stop me.. But someone in the scene for a while with a familiar face I think does have a little extra edge. As for idfa.. I dunno.. Never been to their show.. Hopefully it's a solid org ...

NO, no, you're right. Maybe you're starting to understand why I don't support certain organizations. Yeah, organizations like the WBFF has some politics. Ever notice that whenever they talk some IFBB pro (mostly in figure) to defect into their organization they easily win the next show? Of course an IFBB pro is going to have a proven track record but still, something doesn't add up. Plus, the whole fitness scene in Ontario is pretty small as most people know each other and it's very cliquey (sp?). Even still at just about any IDFA or OPA show I've seen I can pick the top 3-5 out of a lineup and I'm correct down to the placing 80% of the time. I'm not sure about the UFE.....I have to go to a couple shows and check them out.

Hey guys,

I'm pretty happy with my progress in 2 months...but it's just my abs that are lacking. I have the top 2 out, but the bottom 2 are being stubborn. I'm doing weighted leg raises, crunches with my legs on the ball, and even a variation of the jacknife.

What are the chances that the top 4 are too formed? (I used to do 700 situps a day when I was grade 8 & I still have them even though I stopped like 7 years ago). Even when I do decline sit-ups, I swear I only really feel the burn on the top 4.

Thoughts/exercise recommendations? Thanks

What's the goal here? To see abs? Gotta lose fat for that to happen. Genetics being what they are, some people will show a full set of abs at a higher fat level than others. If you're anything like me, you ain't that lucky. ;)

You got the nail on the head...

The trick is to lose the extra fat over the area. Then u will see those bad boys :)

I play one on none full court basketball, almost like a simulated game.... Always wanted to box though just to test myself.

I pretty much got Spanked in Ottawa last weekend. God damn, the Open heavyweight division is no joke!

Placed 4th:

ANd Yeah, Winston walked away with it, as expected. We'll see how I do in Toronto this Saturday but this was definitely a bit of a wake up call. 1st place in Novice plus one year of hard work and improvements and I couldn't even crack the top 3 in the Open. The guy who got 1st place in light weight couldn't even PLACE in the masters with some of the guys in my class there.

Meh...Personally I think you look great. The guy behind you (who I'm assuming is in the top three since there's a statuette there) is scary looking if you ask me! All the top three have that creepy ripple look... I guess that's what they're going for but wow.... It really doesn't do it for me! Bleechhh... Just sayin' ;)

Yea those guys look like serious business. It's all about experience, though, so take it as a learning experience. Good luck on saturday!

Also 4th place is pretty damn good still.

Brother.. You look outstanding... Don't sweat it. 4th is great.... A side or everything, do you feel it was a fair game? Now that you have competed with the idfa...

I feel like I deserved 3rd. I had FAAAR better conditioning than that guy (ie. leaner, more vascularity, striations, or lol more "rippled" and "scarry" ) and a better back than that guy (actually I had a better back than 2nd place guy too) but he had me on legs so it's subjective but the 1st and 2nd place guys had me, no arguments. No I didn't get robbed. This was my 2nd competition and both times was with the IDFA. The judging was fair in bodybuilding. BUT there was some BS happening in the women's fitness category which made me wonder what the hell the judges were smoking. The thing is, the girl that won is a friend of mine so I know she didn't "use her connections" or suck up to anyone but although I'm happy for her, I don't think she deserved the win and she kind of knows it too.

Also, the light weight category was a joke, if I was shrunken down to 5'4 so I weighted in under 155 I would have destroyed every single one of those guys.

I got mad respect for you Roasted. Not just the physical, but it takes a lot mentally to commit and do something on this scale. I can't imagine what you guys go through.

Congrats and good luck in the future competitions!

How much weight do you guys cut before the competition?

Depends on how fat you are to begin with. You should be shredded on stage....in the 4-6% bf range. Some guys cut 70 lbs, some guys cut 20 lbs. I'm naturally a pretty lean and, believe it or not, kind of a small guy, so I'm on the bottom of that range. I started a hair under 220lbs 13 weeks ago and cut to about 198lbs on the same scale week off....although I was 190 lbs according to their scale *** naked....weird. Most people were telling me how lean I was back when I was 215-220 lbs but most people have no idea what the hell shredded looks like. :p
