I think he’s a total tit, but what has he actually done that has irreparably damaged Canada?…
This will be fun.

  • Embarrassed the nation on the international stage with his multiple costume and diplomatic stoogerys.
  • Created a housing and health care availability crisis that will take a generation to repair.
  • Doubled the cost of a house/roof for most Canadians.
  • Added more debt in the last 4 years than all prime minister combined
  • Led the single biggest increase in homeless population ever - now 300,000. That’s an increase of 40% in the last 5 years.

I’ll save some for others.

Sure no problem…so you’re saying internationally recognized statistics are horse crap because it doesn’t fit your narrative?

Edit: we were supposed to have a recession in 2023 but an unusually robust economy staved that off…wonder where that came from.

No, I’m saying Canada’s federal debt in those stats does not include the very large portion carried by provinces, or the massive debt to Canadians for the CPP.

I think the orange buffoon south of the border has most of these points covered.
Let's hope he doesn't get re-elected because if he does the manure will hit the fan big time.

Nobody globally remembers #1. People here may but it’s not a big deal, Trudeau role played as a weirdo in robes, PP role played as a fascist in a suit.

#2. We still have free health care. Regardless of how crap it is right now the average family will never have to face bankruptcy due to healthcare costs alone in Canada. Can it do better..absolutely. Do I trust the cons to make it better, absolutely not.

Housing is a mess but is that totally a Trudeau thing? It’s a lack of legislation thing across multiple governments if you ask me.

#4. You got me…absolutely nothing comes to mind about any global event that may have put a crowbar into the economy that occurred in the last few years and absolutely did not affect any other country on earth. Except maybe every other developed nation.

Homelessness is part of the housing issue.

Now…what about the robust economy that avoided a recession in 2023?

Seriously, the guy is a grade A class 1 tool but we aren’t actually doing that bad compared to nearly every other country.

Also, austerity measures generally contributed to poor economic growth after they were implemented after 2010 and were rowed back by the head of the IMF afterwards with a mea culpa.

Brace yourself, he’s probably coming back.

I prefer Biden, but it’s hard to convince a nation that he’s sharp enough to be the leader of the free world for another 4 years.

I don’t think Trump can be defeated in the GOP primary, and I don’t think Biden will be able to pull the Dems nose up by November.

I really can't imagine ANYONE being a worse prime Minister then Trudeau has become, (maybe Hitler or Mussolini, but no one in recent history or current year.)

Good lord, again, the second completely and totally delusional thing I've read in this thread.

Some people need to stop reading hard right news as their only source of reality and climb out of the rabbit holes they've cozied up in.

Wow...just....WOW.

Added more debt in the last 4 years than all prime minister combined

There was a little thing called Covid that certainly contributed to that. As much as people scream and cry about all the money the government threw out during Covid, when the opposite was literally having huge swaths of the populace suddenly without any means to support themselves and pay the bills, well, we did what we had to do. Was some of it spent poorly and was it abused by some? Absolutely. But the overwhelming bulk went to people who found themselves unemployed overnight, in some cases, entire households who suddenly had no income. Their reality otherwise was not being able to afford to put food on the table and potentialy losing their entire livlihoods, so yeah, money well spent there.

Not counting that chicken until it's hatched. When you read deeper into things, especially some of the news in the last few weeks specifically, there's a lot of people who really don't want to vote for Trump again and might just simply not vote at all. Given as how the Democrats will have a solid push from the "anyone but trump" crowd, the results may be surprising, despite the constant drumbeats of a trump bulldozer win from the right.

But if he does, it'll be interesting to see how Poilevre handles him if *he* wins as well. Unless he just cozies right up to him and drags us down that same festering ********. If Trump wins this November and PP shows even the slightest hint of cozing up to him expect that to have a pretty significant negative impact on his chances here come our election a year later.

Do you get out of the country much?

It’s not free, it’s universal. And it’s overwhelmed largely because we added close to a million extra users faster than we could scale services.
Housing is a mess but is that totally a Trudeau thing? It’s a lack of legislation thing across multiple governments if you ask me.
Yes. You can’t add surge an extra million people into the country when there’s no room at the inn.
#4. You got me…absolutely nothing comes to mind about any global event that may have put a crowbar into the economy that occurred in the last few years and absolutely did not affect any other country on earth. Except maybe every other developed nation.
How about dumping gasoline on inflation with created money. Then dousing those flames by increasing finance costs to crippling levels? That didn’t happen everywhere.
Homelessness is part of the housing issue.
BooYa ! Do we count that as a win?
Now…what about the robust economy that avoided a recession in 2023?
And which 1st world countries saw a recession?

Another economics lesson? Not tonight, I have some football to watch.

Me too, I’m watching a documentary about the moon being made out of green cheese mostly funded by Big Green Cheese corp rather than some independent body that actually knows what they’re talking about without having less axes to grind than at a Viking orgy.

What?

🤦‍♂️

Yeah yeah, we pay taxes for our "Free healthcare".

In the end, even those who pay very little taxes for whatever reason ultimately...get healthcare.

No matter how you look at it or what arguments you make for or against it, I'll take it any day of the week over the shitshow in the USA, and I'll gladly keep paying my taxes to fund it. I've had a few surgeries (one being a 12 hour neurosurgery, plus my 3-4 hour shoulder reconstruction) that would have literally bankrupted us in the USA. Or rather, wouldn't have bankrupted us because I probably would never have had them done to begin with as I couldn't afford them.

So instead I'd be living my life risking severe spinal damage if I bent, fell, or twisted the wrong way (My reality before I had that issue fixed), and in constant debilitating pain from a full thickness rotator cuff tear that I'd have to live with for the rest of my life. That doesn't include things like many broken bones, etc etc etc over the years.

Please, take my money.

absolutely, I'm not complaining, but let's call a spade a spade.

as they say, the devil is in the details.

You pay taxes, which means you probably work. Most employed people that aren't on minimum wage in the US have health benefits and those procedures you had done would have been done with almost zero wait times, by much more competent doctors and at very minimal/zero expense.

You know the health system is broken when people travel across the border and pay for MRIs etc so they don't have to wait 4-12 months to have one done locally.

This is true.

Best friends brother lives in Boston; his 8 year old daughter has adult version of leukemia and she was just released yesterday, but was in there 24/7 for the last 4? months. His work completely covered the bills of chemo, radiation, etc.

Meanwhile best friend has been on medical long term disability for about 5 years now and has gone across the boarder previously for an MRI when he was told 7 month wait here. Got it done in buffalo next day for $800 iirc. He's now waiting on a CT scan and if it's longer then a month he's going to go back to buffalo.

So why is the expected lifespan of your average person higher in Canada than the US?

Most employed people that aren't on minimum wage in the US have health benefits

Hahahahaah.

That's a good one.

Around 50% of workers in the USA have employer based health insurance. The stats are easily found, just Google it.

Of that 50% a lot of those health insurance plans are bare bones - IE places like McDonalds, Walmart, Home Depot (etc etc etc) in the USA boast "health insurance" for their fulltime employees, but it's not paying for huge expensive surgeries. Fall and break your ankle, yeah, it'll get you patched up. Need a half million dollar neurosurgery? Yeah, no.

And of these healthcare plans, most include co-pays and most also have deductibles.

We have family who live in Mississippi. They have "healthcare" through his skilled trade job, but they still pay thousands of dollars a month out of pocket to boost the coverage levels to something that is actually going to cover anything serious just in case. Most people cannot afford that.

There are great employers who offer great plans that cover everything. But of that 50% of the population that even has employer coverage, the percentage that have these golden handshake plans is a small portion of that.

Facts.
