Why Millions Buy Harley-Davidson Motorcycles

Two of weeks back I was chatted with a nice GS rider from Vaughan, we crossed paths at the Tims in Beaverton and after coffee road as far as Moore's Falls together.
What was he doing at Tim’s? Shouldn’t he be at Starbucks?

p.s. I took my F900R to dirt and gravel already on 100% road tires. Do you have the contacts of that guy? We should switch our bikes.

Thin skins, some of those tough Harley guys. ;)

I use my thin skin HD tears to polish my bike

Anybody got HD stock?

Ooooof, stock dumped 7% today
Interesting. What were people expecting? HD is doing far better than I expected at finding a path forward. I don't own any stock as I believed they would never be willing to change and ride the brand into the ground with HD merchandise at Costco.

where does the posing in Timmies parking lot fall in?
is that split between Bragging and a little bit of Engine Revving?
Is posing at Tim’s still a thing?

I can say that I have not seen this action in a few yrs

Go ride by the Tim’s in Port Perry on 7A for one of many examples. Or most Tim’s on highway 7 between Peterborough and Perth, particularly Madoc and Havelock.

To be perfectly fair there’s lots of metrics in that crowd as well.

in small towns/cities, sure

I'm just messin around
most HD riders are too busy putting miles on to pose
sport bike guys are actually worse offenders
a rip to the forks for ice cream is a big outting

we have a couple of HD owners on this forum that def do not stand around posing
burns is a motorcyclist that owns a Harley and racks on miles

and the member with that beautiful red Road Glide
can't remember the nic, posts mostly in trip threads
that guy has more miles on his bike than I've ever put on one

5 millionth sold in 2019.
Hmmm..

@kiley ?

As with most things, I am not sure there is an average rider. I know a few HD riders that pile on the miles and a few that have an order of magnitude more dollars than miles on their bikes (and dollars are still increasing quickly and miles increasing very slowly).

This is what inflates their sales all to hell. You a fan?

Nope. Not particularly a fan of Honda.
Just putting things into perspective - Honda lost the same number of sales in one year, as the total number of bikes HD has sold in their ENTIRE history.

I'm sure that if HD had approached an "every person's bike" concept they too, could be churning out a bazillion bikes each year, but instead are stuck in the mire of a possible impending financial doom.

*Edit - added last paragraph

Can confirm. In and around Peterborough anyway I had seen so many sport bikes with under tail lights, stretched rears and retarded light up or furry dumb helmets. When asked if they ever ride or just pose here you get the usual scoff "yea bro, I wheelie and drag knees all the time!". Sorry but the chicken stripes on your tires confirm, that was a lie.
