Why Android is better than iPhone.

Hell, even the Apple networking products are basically limited to 3 choices.. Atheros/Broadcom/Ralink. Their advantages are that the firmware is as idiot-proof as humanly possible at our current level of technology, the cute little white box and the cute little apple logo.

Here's a vote for the Tablet underdog..... :)

"With dozens of companies looking to gain tablet PC market share away from Apple and Samsung, it’s going to take a special kind of product to succeed, one that offers consumers fast performance and expanded options on the competition. In other words, something that’s not only different but better, in its own way.

RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook could be that tablet............"

Blackberry would have had a champ with the playbook if it was released before Christmas but by the time it arrives what it does won't be special anymore. It does have some great OS features (the ones ripped off from webOS) but seeing as the screen surface is smaller than the 7" Galaxy tab it is just too small IMHO to be a great work tablet which is what it is aimed at.

I have no doubt it will sell decent within the enterprise market but considering about 10 new Android tablets with the same specs or higher will drop about the same time (just announced at CES) they sure have their work cut out for them in the consumer market. BB doesn't even have a top name in the consumer market anymore so they better price this thing less than the other tablets or it will flounder. Also from demonstrations I have seen it has about 5 hours of battery life which again IMHO is far too short to be effective as a work tablet or mobile consumer electronic device. RIM hopes to improve that before its launched but I will believe it when I see it. Flash is a battery hog and all of the apps are Adobe Air based.

I wish them well but RIM has disappointed me at every turn with this product. What seemed revolutionary when they were leaking video and specs months ago will be just run of the mill on launch.

iPad killer? or should I say iPad2 killer? I'd wager no. Although RIM stock holders better hope it is. After all RIM has pretty much given up on the full feature smart phone business after releasing the pile of crap known as 'The Torch'.

"P.S. And just like that, Apple's managed to once again be one of the biggest stories at CES with zero presence there. That's what, five years in a row now?"

Where are you getting these quotations from? I've been reading a lot about CES the last few days (Ars technica, Techcrunch, gizmodo) and have been pleasantly surprised at the lack of apple news.

I am on my third htc, i will NOT be buying another when my contract is up with bell (nor will i stick with bell, they have the worst customer service of any company out there and i've dealt with many).

I'm with Fido, now THEY are bad. I have had service with them for almost a year now and I have yet to receive a single bill.
Their customer service is a complete joke and have NO idea what the hell is going on in their own company.
RUN AWAY!!!
I'm done with them as soon as the contract is up. On another note I have also been with Bell, Rogers and Telus...they all suck IMO.

I have a theory.. Let's say their reps promise you the world to make you sign on.. Then you try to get certain functionality out of their service (that was promised).. And you can't because they can't deliver on their promise.. So you cancel, and they slap you with a hefty ETF. If you decide not to pay up, they send the collections dogs after you and you're harassed for years. Would that be enough of a reason to hate the Robbers scum?

I used the contract talk on them. They called me to tell me that bundling 3 services was no longer 15% off my bill and I would have to get a 4th service to enjoy the same discount with a year commitment of course. The thing is I had already committed less than a year before to a year contract with them for 3 services giving me 15% off so I quized them on why they don't have to honour contracts signed with them. Of course I did some yelling and threatened to make up the difference with cutting my services to bare minimum. I also challenged them to look up my account information as they claimed there was no way I signed up for 15% off that year. Well they called me back and apologized and game me 15% for longer than I would have gotten it.

we are old enough to know what an agreement is, and the total of years(term) which the contract is for, we should also know about an early cancel fee(which is most times a lot), now... 2yrs or 3yrs is a long time, so its totally up to you to know if you're ready for that,.. now check this, most times you have a certain amount of time to cancel without penalty, this is where you see if it fits you or not.

would be great if you explain that certain functionality?

In my case it was along the lines "yeah, we do offer texting with your country of interest and yeah, you can try our service for a month and if you don't like it, you can cancel without any issues." Well, the first part was a lie and they also omitted the fact that I was limited to about 30min of total use in that month. I ended up eating the ETF because I've seen what they did to another person who got screwed over, canceled early and didn't pay up. Collectors are still calling him after 10 years. Fortunately he's old and independently wealthy, so he doesn't give a flyin' **** about his credit rating. Bonus points for anti-Robbers rants that he gives each and every collector, as if they were Robbers employees and not working for some agency that bought up the bad debt

this is how i look at it,
if you're gonna purchase a motorcycle, you will use all of your hearing and ask questions until you are satisfied, without skipping that scratch on the rim, and the chicken strips on the tire.
Well you gotta do the same on that type of purchase too.
i like to speak to atleast 2 persons to confirm what i got and get their insight on said purchases and features included, and request for them to add to my notes.

what you gotta realize is, they are humans, most of them trainees too. Reason i second call, is to make sure its correct, especially if its a superb deal, and i need that second person to pinch me.

i do get angry a lot with them, but the next person in customer relations puts a smile on my face,...where i usually say "let me hang up before you change your mind"

Rogers is the best, they brought iphone here, and soon 4G.
