who's still riding? (in toronto)

^ nice, what do you drive?

and I was riding on Thursday, heading up to Lake Simcoe to take in the fall colors. Didn't quite make it, as it got too cold and I stopped in Newmarket and read books at chapters. Gotta get a non-perforated jacket and pick up some winter gloves to keep riding in this weather

Last ride was on Wednesday Oct 23rd, went to a movie at the science center. Fun ride, but might be my last! Going to get the bike ready for storage soon.

Was out today. A good multilayered bike coat and a pair of snowmobile gloves and I'm still good. My limits are 4-5 degrees, because below that you get too much of a chance of ice in shadowed areas. Had a spectacular wipeout in one of those years ago, not something I'd care to repeat.

About the same here, even with heated gear. Once it regularly falls below 5 degrees, that's it--any road moisture starts getting slushy. Commuting after daylight savings time begins often requires you to ride in near darkness too, which drastically reduces everyone's visibility. It doesn't seem to increase the attention most pay to driving, unfortunately.

I've had near spills myself and decided a broken/torn anything (with attendant insurance hassles) wasn't really worth the internet points GTAM might award.

Now if I could snag a sidecar setup, that might be a different story.

I was out on Friday night and it was cold and wet.

Since I don't really commute with the bike, it's probably time to put it away, but every time the sun comes out I get the itch to ride, and start checking forecasts. :(

It's especially bad in Toronto, with all the streetcar tracks - those ice up before the pavement does (and are already a minior traction hazard/much smoother), so be extra careful in low temps near those damn things.

Been into the negatives in the mornings up here in the Soo for about a week

I agree! I brought my new bike home in early may and it was only 5 degrees! Never again lol.

Rode from Kingston to Keene, ON for some ribs at Muddy's Pit BBQ yesterday. Electrics kept me nice and comfortable. Back roads were great. Did see about 7 or 8 riders for the whole day.

Rode up to Toronto yesterday from Kitchener at 11am. It was +4C. Then we did Halloween Hood Ride through Toronto downtown. Then I rode back to Kitchener. When I got back, I switched to my stunt bike and went for practice to the lot. So yeah, it's too early to put the bikes away.

Rode around a bit yesterday, but was bundled appropriately and it was fine. Thought I was a brave soul. Then I saw a guy zooming buy on a sportbike wearing only a hoodie, what looked like dollar-store gloves, and you could see his ankles (no socks). Now that was insane.

First season riding and my commute is less than 10 mins so I'm still hanging in there. I'm hoping to keep using the bike for at least a few more weeks. I've got the riding bug now, and I'm not sure how I'll deal and get through the winter! Therapy perhaps :p

Electric jacket gives me waaay to much confidence in my cold tires. With someone made tires with built in heater coils.

Last week it was all hovering around freezing point when I left for work, or it rained. This week looks much more promising.

Although there's the days I start out at a construction site, and having to deal with frozen/thawing mud/gravel = no thank you.

Anyone have recommendations for heated liner vests or jackets?

not about bike life, its about 200 a month in parking if i use my car, plus god knows how much for the 407, both free on the bike

some of us don't just ride to timmies and have shinny bikes

... Bikes are free on the 407?????????????
