Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

Some of the most fun riding I've ever done has been renting a moped at a cruise ship port of call.

On a cruise about 10 years ago my wife and I came within probably 45 seconds of missing our ship courtesy of a scooter rental and going bombing around the island. Lost track of time, took longer to get back than expected, didn’t notice time difference between the ship and my phone (the main issue), all entirely things that were my fault, but, yeah, 45 seconds.

I’ve been a little mentally scarred against renting one on a cruise ever since lol

But you had fun, right?

Up until the last 3-4 minutes of terror (and heckling while running for the gangway, anyone who’s ever cruised understands), sure.

Similar but a 150cc twist and go on islands in Greece instead of a moped.
(I did some research before we left - the Squeeze was surprised by how many nude beaches we "stumbled" upon.

As expected, no fair weather riders out today. None. And not even a single representative at Horton's Choice (as our buddy @PrivatePilot refers to them) HQ in Port Perry.

Sun and cloud the entire way, about 4°C. The roads are wet in many spots. I avoided the gravel today because it's just too sloppy for my liking. The coldest and least pleasant part of today's ride will be hosing off the bike in the driveway.

@V-Tom has left the chat.

Still here.

Just been crazy busy with work and changing my home address next month. Should have ridden today but busy packing and not feeling all that well.

Last ride was last week, as of then I was at 53,860.00 km / 33,467 miles riding in 2024. My 2020 V-Strom DL1050 has 250,625.00 km /155,731 miles as of last gas fill. (I bought it new July 1, 2020.)

I want your amount of apparent spare time. I’d be pushing big miles too.

Sadly, work.

Nice!
When I saw the sun pop out around noon I was very temped, but I set the day aside for some work. Should have went for the ride instead...

as i recall most of that is a long daily commute. but someone feel free to correct me,

Got out for a wee squirt through the Beaches today. There were no motos at Timmy's so I didn't stop.

I don't have much for spare time. When there isn't risk of ice and snow I commute to work on my bike, on my day's off (Sunday and Wed's) I almost always for for a little ride (I call it "round the block" and it usually is around 300 km sometimes more.) I did a few rides this year but nothing epic.: Meet up in Romney West Virginia, Meetup at East Durham New York State, (Not too far from where the Woodstock festival was held in 1969, I rode to Chicago to see a Steam engine that was riding from Calgary to Mexico City, My daughter and her husband got tickets to the Calgary Stampede so I rode out there and visited them for a bit. (I take only three days, roughly 3,200 km of riding to get there.)

in 2024 I rode a total of 53,860 km (so far) at least 38,696 km was not commuting. About 15,164 km was commuting, probably a bit less. (I based these numbers on the dates I filled my tank so there is probably some error but its close.)

So crazy, always impressive. You getting another bike soon, seems like your mileage is around that number?

That is impressive. I think what I rode this season might be a rounding error in your filled tank calculations!
Well done.

Not really planning to get a new bike yet. It only has 250,000 km on it. :) There is first generation V-Strom DL1000 that has over 437,000 **miles** on it so should be some life left in mine. :)
