Who's still riding? (Fall 2016 / Winter 2017 edition)

Did you enjoy it, even if you are not doing 200km/hr+

Many people do but I can not get my head around only riding track.
Did my first street ride in 3 years yesterday. Did 150km's or so on the new bike, the last street miles it'll see while I own it.

I rmb you writing something similar a few months. I agree with you after trying track only for this season. Track riding is extremely focused/self improvement based. Street riding is very therapeutic. I"m definitely not sticking to just one next time I get a bike/bikes.

But I definitely can't see any fun operating a sport bike within legal speeds...lol

I found the faster I went on track the slower I rode street. I enjoy the peaceful thinking time and scenic riding, unless I am in PA, then it's on.

To be completely honest, maybe for the first 10min after that I was bored. I don't think I even need to be on a different bike, I just didn't enjoy it. It's not because I wasn't going fast, it just felt pointless which is part of what pushed me to racing instead of track days. I drive 2000+km a week for work so pounding out miles for the sake of it is just not my idea of fun. I'd rather be at home with my kids, that's my therapy for now. Maybe down the line I'll see the enjoyment come back to road riding but for the foreseeable future it'll be dirt and track.

Also I am sure the kids love the time with their dad, and that is something, no matter what you do you can never get back. Plus your a LOT safer at the track then on the street, at least there no one is texting while they are near your bike..lol

That makes sense. Kind of in the same boat right now, free time is so precious that I really have to pick and chose where to spend it, unlike when we had no kids I could just pick up and go anywhere at any time.

I am :) Getting out everyday that its not raining. Still see some bikes out there! Seems like I'm getting a lot more waves from cruisers/harleys in this cold weather.

Few of us still out there, i was out in georgetown today, cant believe i live near so many awesome roads

Had to switch to winter gloves mid way because couldnt feel hands

I'm planning to ride to a meeting in Alliston on the bike on Tuesday afternoon, and there is a distinct possibility of Burrito Boyz in the evening!

"Awesome". Like which?

was out on sunday...there was a bit of salt on the road in the terra cotta area...going to ride towards the niagara region for the rest of the season

Forecast for tomorrow is 15....I was thinking about riding to work, but unfortunately there's rain in the forecast for the afternoon/evening.

The long term forecast has highs 9-10 for the next few weeks at least, so November is looking passable for some extended season riding as it stands. I'll take it!

11 degrees forecasted for this coming Saturday as well. If it holds we will probably take a scoot somewhere for a few hours again.

The forecast for Ithaca NY is 19 C on Wednesday. I might switch from the Adirondacks to the finger lakes.

At suggestions for a destination for tomorrow? Thinking of taking advantage of the nice day, looks good up until 5-6pm before it's forecasted to cloud over, but of course it's getting dark by then anyways so I'd like to call it a day before such.

Looking for 300-400 kilometres, somewhere mostly avoiding the superslab, north or east of the Oshawa area ideally, with somewhere decent for lunch.

I'm contemplating Bancroft as a point B perhaps but am open to ideas.

I rode last year until almost Christmas, I think I started riding in 2016 in March but it was hit and miss if I remember and I am still commuting to and from work now.

Last thursday was rough and I guess it was ok, it was +2c to +4c bit the wind was really blowing off the lake in toronto.

I talked to another guy the day after at an intersection, who was riding an RR1000. I asked him if he rode to work the day before and he said yes...it was pretty nasty with the wind.

I go until it almost feels like snowmobiling then I switch to a car.

Unfortunately my insurance has gone from ?1400 to $2600....as of september with State Farm. But that is another sad story for another post.

For a long loop look south to NY state. Temps of 19 and 20C Watkins Glen and area.
