Who's still riding? (Fall 2016 / Winter 2017 edition)

Rode around town all day, I think I've finally mastered the fine art of the wet streetcar track crossing. Not one butt-clenching moment.

3 upper-body layers + my BMG Thermosport gloves. T'was fine.

Having said that, Sunday looks nice...I think one more "last ride" :D

Yup, Sunday could be another "last ride". I'm gonna "lube my chain" before hand if you know what I mean.

I really wanted to do that but living and working in downtown makes it super tough to get out on the bike. I am planning to get it out this evening though. Hopefully, it rains a bit more and dries out.... *prayinghard* :angel3:

@inreb - yup yup, both before and after should be just fine! ;)

So how do I keep my neck & shoulders warm without restricting how far I can turn my head?

Snow in the face at 60 was refreshing a few nights back. Couldn't figure out why the cars were veering all over the place. It's not like the roads were slippery, not even a bit. Forecast is looking good, 12C on Tuesday, don't care about the brine. Let's keep riding and ignore the Soylent Green economy on the horizon.

Some days, I wish I was a monkey.

It felt nice out this afternoon and early evening. It's funny how even a week or cool/cold/crappy weather can suddenly make even 5-6c feel decent again. Had the roads not been wet I would have went out for a scoot after work.

Sunday is looking less and less palatable now, forecasted high 4c at the moment.

Get a thermal Buff. Inexpensive, comfortable, will not inhibit movement.

I'll try that. Have a silk scarf but I hate the air up the back of my helmet & down my jacket so I think I need something longer.

I'm still commuting until the snow stays. I've got a 12k cross-city commute, heated gloves and vest and wear full rev'it sand 2 gear. I briefly hit 80-90kph on some routes, so it's a pretty comfortable ride down to just below zero where my fear of ice or unexpected snow would keep me off the road anyway.

Curious to hear how Sadrik's M+S tires work out for him.

I picked up a Ducati scrambler this fall to replace my old 05 monster thanks to an inattentive driver and the resulting insurance write off. Does anyone out there have experience riding these stock Mt-60s in the cold?

A decent jacket with a liner, in addition to a layer or two underneath will keep the torso and shoulders etc warm enough. For the neck I use a dickie (ha ha, I know...) which is long enough that I can tuck it into the bottom of my helmet; it's retained pretty well by the helmet strap and serves to keep the air off my neck and from coming up into the helmet. The material is flexible enough that it doesn't hinder movement for blind spot checking etc.

If you can't bring yourself to purchase or wear something called a "dickie" consider a neck warmer instead.
