Which car. Any car enthusiasts here?

I had to replace the ball joints in my bmw. Upon further investigation you have to replace the whole control arm. You can't replace the ball joints only.

Facepalm

$135 will get you the whole control arm with replaceable metal ball joints. Takes under an hour to do it on your driveway.
My BMW was the most reliable car I have ever owned. Coincidentally, I used to own a Honda Prelude that had many issues.

The S4 with the DSG is quicker than the standard. I tried them both. Manuals are likely to be gone, on the whole, pretty soon. The 8 speed auto in the A7/RS7, the Porsche PDK and many others have transmissions that can be automatic or paddle-shift and shift times are under 100ms (vs. 100-200ms for my DSG and 400ms for an expert manual operator). I think with the "Stage II" kits, a S4 with the manual would be quite good, but without the mods it was much less lively with a manual in daily driving. These new "automatics" have sport/sport+ modes that keep the engine right in the meat of the torque curve and keep it there in a way that only the best manual operators could, and with aftermarket transmission tunes, some of them can do things that are impressive as hell. There's a reason that Nissan put an "automatic" in the GT-R and why Porsche will soon no longer offer a manual transmission in its cars.

OP, if you don't care about luxury much I think the best performance car on the market for Canada right now is probably the Evo Lancer GSR with low options. The MR on the other hand... not so much, it's getting close to S3/S4 pricing and about the price of the Q50 I looked at. And if you want performance, a mid-optioned Corvette is in that price range... 450+ horsepower in a light car for a bit over $50k. Not very useful in the winter, of course...

If I had the funds to fund my car addiction, I wouldnt be talking about is250 or TSX or a4 quattros LOL.

I love driving manual cars, and It is sad to see that many companies are killing off manuals slowly. Man if I had 30k I would get a GSR EvoX. Dont make nearly enough money to be thinking about GTR's or Corvettes LOL.

It's not about lap times for manuals. It's the driving experience. Yes the GTR is stoopid fast but it seem to me(I have never driven one) it's soulless. I for one am interested in a 11+ wrx or ap2 s2k or brz/frs in manual. The rich guys buying the porches can have the autos so they can brag about their 0-60 times.

So they're gonna start making automatic sport bikes. That'll be the day.

DSG faster, quicker, on and on and on. Yes, it is statistically quicker and faster, but there is more to cars than specs. I agree daisoman. I've driven paddle shift and dsg cars. It is not as near an involved experience as a manual transmission. The driving experience is much more enjoyable with a manual imo. In fact everything in my garage at this time is manual.

There is a lot of internet info about DSG issues across many manufacturers and platforms so I'm still apprehensive about them. I think their design will continue to evolve as they are fairly new technology. And check out the repair cost of a DSG versus a manual transmission. Like that GT-R, a replacement transmission for it is over $20,000.

+1 for S2000. Ive had the chance to drive one, and man..... I gotta say.... DAT GEAR BOX! It may be a Honda, but it for sure isnt your normal Honda. One of the best cars I've driven.

Dude you're all over the place. Test ride them all and narrow it down. I personally love car shopping

Link?
Are you not going to replace the bushing set with brackets?

An hour? If you've done it before and don't encounter any problems. Plus you have to remove the brace at the bottom, no way you can do both control arms in an hour

Ahaha sorry, I just love cars and if I had the money I would own all of them!

Hey guys, bringing this old thread back alive!

So all week I have checked out a couple of used car dealerships in the GTA. They ALL seem so shady, Some of the cars are too good to be true of a deal and my BS detector sensed it.

I walked into Curves motor this week to check out a 2009 BMW 328i xdrive they had for sale for less than 20g with less than 80km on it. I almost signed the paper work to bring that car home, but decided to sleep on it first. I later decided to check google to see if anyone had anything good or bad to say about the dealership and wow... good thing I didnt buy the car!

So this time insted of asking about which car, because I have deiced on one already. I am asking this question...

Where is a good used car dealership in the GTA? with non shady and non lieing/scaming ppl? Is there such a thing?

I read that Yorktown motors is actually a honest place and they were on cp24 part of the mystery shopper thing. But unfortunately they don't have what I am looking for.

Recommendations? places to stay away from?

Bought my acura TL from this place, and can't say enough great things about it.

What the price is, is what you will pay, no haggling. But once you compare these guys to other dealers, you will be happy to purchase from them.

I had the same problem when i was looking for a new car. A lot of shady dealers in GTA, were the cars were parked inches from each other, and sales office was a trailer.

All there cars are super clean inside and out

you will be in awe of there inventory

Remember, dealers keep the cream of the crop. Varying shades go to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th tier used car shysters. If I get another A4, which is likely, dealers will be first on my shopping list. CPO and maintenance records are important when considering Teutonic vehicles.

How much different would the price be on a certified pre-owned? Might save you a lot of headache in the long run.

I would recommend contacting the dealer with a good reputation and telling them what you are looking for. Once they get something in that is up to standard, they can contact you and work out a deal. Depending on specs, they should be able to locate the child you are looking at, for the right price.
