what r u paying for weed these days ?

Instead of tossing it, you could make weed butter, then use the butter for cooking
Personally - not a fan of weed edibles in any form. I prefer instant annihilation.

I have made tinctures and also used to make a regular alcohol party mix. We would take a couple of 40’s or 60’s of our favourite hard liquor and put it all into a big soup pot with all the high quality shake and simmer and stir for a couple hours. Then strain out the shake and make mixed drinks for party night:)

You simmered alchohol for hours? Don't you just end up with weed water? All of the alcohol should be long gone.

All the good stuff like THC is on the stalked glands on the exterior of the buds/plant.
Upon immediate contact with alcohol it is dissolved into the alcohol.
Soaking the plant any longer just yields waxes, chlorophyll and other non- psychoactive components.
For the cleanest mix simply run it through a coffee filter once.

When I say simmered it was like warmed but not hot. And maybe closer to an hour?
It was a long time ago in a past life.

Even with low proof alcohol?
I’ve read that the THC comes off quickly with higher proof alcohol’s but thought that using typical drinking liquor it takes longer.

Low proof will work just fine.
Edit
Basing the low proof theory on home brewers experience using beer as the alcohol FWIW.

Sativa strains are uplifting, provide energy and a 'mind high'.

Indica strains are relaxing, usually give you mega munchies and a 'body high'.

Most strains these days are hybrid, they've fused both together. However you can usually find that one strain is more dominant than the other.

Go to a local dispensary and they should have them laid out separately. Buy both and see what happens!
My point was that over 40 years I must have used a bunch of both. Dispensary?? I never pay tax on weed.

Anybody doing shruums? Noticed mushroom shops are now on the fringe. A buddy frequents res potshops and picked up shruum infused chocolate bars. Looking forward to trying some.

Great documentary on the subject called Fantastic Fungi. Offers a lot of interesting info on brain activity and how ingesting psychedelic mushrooms improve brain function over the long term.

I’ll report back over the long term.

A friend is very heavily involved with medicinal use of psychedelics. She's a doctor in BC and that is her focus. Lots of research being done. Like weed, there are downsides to abuse but with proper dosing and supervision you can improve some peoples lives substantially.

Is it too soon to reopen this thread?

Looking to put some seeds in the ground again so if anyone has recommendation of where to buy seeds please let me know!

When’s start of growing??

It’s never too soon…

Start of growing season depends if you are starting your seeds indoors to get them larger to move outdoors by Victoria Day long weekend, or are you starting them from seed much closer to that long weekend. If you can, germinate them indoors first in late March to early April, so you have small potted plants to put outdoors and in the ground by late May.

I’m going to grow again this summer. I found a strain I really like that is energetic with no brain dead feeling after, so will grow that.

Not sure if I’ll make my soil mixture again or just feed with some liquid food every couple weeks.

I start now and grow them under lights. I like them to be around 20" above the soil and 6" below the soil by May 1st when I take them outside.

I plant them deep, the base of the stem is about 12" underground.

You can bring harvest time forward and increase yields on tomatoes by starting early -- doesn't work like that for cannabis. The plants are ready at the same time whether you drop seeds in the ground in May, or start your plants in January. The main benefit of starting early is they get enormous. My last grow was 3 years ago, my girls became a neighborhood spectacle when they hit 10' tall.

Screw seeds. Cuttings of most strains available in Albertville
This.
Starting seeds this soon would be very early unless the plan is to sex them and start up a mother program.
The best move to make would be to put well established hardened off female clones out at summer solstice.
I could go into a long winded explanation of why but believe me the above is solid advise.

I'm not an expert, just a guy with some tribal experience from a few years of growing. The girls I start Feb 1 always finish between 10-12', and the ones I start April 1 always hit 6'.

The 12' plants have 3x the yield of the 6-footers.

Clones are your best bet, I use feminized seeds, which are not perfect -- I've found trans and hermies over the years -- you have to be diligent.

Two things if they are put outside too early the short photoperiod causes the plant to produce flowering hormones that will cause stretch then they almost pause growth stressing the plants possibly promoting them to hermaphrodite and just wasting time.
The other thing is you have to remember is that we are doing something unnatural by isolating the female plant and not allowing seed set and causing the flower clusters to get far larger and heaver than the would normally get.
If you grow a huge plant they are very susceptible to wind and rain damage even if trellised up. Few things are as disappointing as finding all your hard work in the mud after a late summer storm.
Then there is the potential mold issues..
Done it more than once J.S.
