what r u paying for weed these days ?

So...considering that this year's crop is dead :(

When do I start planting the next batch so that it can start growing prior to being taken outside?

I feel like November is too early, and while I had good timing last year (starting in April)...not sure what best way is.
March 1st works well if starting with seeds. Then in the ground (not many will agree) by the 14th of May.
I just stuffed this yrs trimmed crop in the freezer 2 days ago.
526g from two plants.
Total cost, $0.

Wow nice! I'm going to plant one in the ground instead of a pot...just to see how big it gets.

I hear similar timing recommendations but I swear it's for people further south. I almost always have better results slightly later. I know a lot of people that recommend the May long weekend. I often find there is threat of frost still. And baby plants are much more fragile and sensitive than a mature plant end of season. I have zero fear of frost late in the season. We've had frost in my area a few times already and I still have a plant in the ground right now. I find sometimes the frost seems to trigger trichome ripening. This last plant seems to be a late bloomer. I had two of the same strain and the first one was ready about three weeks before the other.

So not by a lot but my plants usually go into the ground a little later than what seems to be convention. So late May and come out over a few weeks throughout October, sometimes maybe even slightly into November. I time it based on trichomes and trying to achieve mostly opaque and erring towards slightly more brown than clear as an average across the plant.

I've got about six of these trays already and maybe 60% finished trimming.

Reviving this old school thread....

My 70 year old mother is having a lot of issues with sleeping and I'm wondering whether I should introduce her to some weed to try and get some better sleep.

Anyone have any recommendations for a product from OCS that I can give her? Obviously it would need to be fairly light as it would be her first time (as far as I'm aware).

First timers with edibles are often overwhelmed.
IMO the gentlest way to introduce her to cannabis would be to start with a low dose CBD product.
From there if she is not seeing the desired results slowly ramp up
If her first experience is unpleasant it will likely put her off trying more and that would be a shame seeing as cannabis is one of the most benign sleep aids out there.

If you do try THC you'll want Indica heavy strains. Sativa is the energy giving one.

Awe man I just threw out a few oz of bud. It was sitting in my basement and I needed it gone. Blue dream is nice as a tincture which my 80yr MIL uses to help her sleep.

When my friends were younger and dumber they found a grow on public land and decided to harvest it. They had no interest in selling it, personal use only. Thankfully they didn't get caught by whoever planted the crop. They had two rubbermaid bins full after processing. I'm not sure what happened to it all. They had storage issues as they were living with their parents. Some of it got buried to be retrieved later. I don't know what happened when they dug it up but I assume it was probably bad. I wanted nothing to do with any of that whole operation.

I don't understand the indica / sativa thing. I've been smoking weed almost 40 years and all the weed I smoke has the same affect on me.

Sativa strains are uplifting, provide energy and a 'mind high'.

Indica strains are relaxing, usually give you mega munchies and a 'body high'.

Most strains these days are hybrid, they've fused both together. However you can usually find that one strain is more dominant than the other.

Go to a local dispensary and they should have them laid out separately. Buy both and see what happens!

HUH?
Maybe it's time to STOP for a while, about a month. THC builds up in fat molecules, and as long as you keep smoking, it keeps building up, and THAT might be what you're getting high on

OH YEAH.
The higher deltas of THC start to break down immediately.
store weed in the dark, sealed from air, the freezer is a good place to store weed... but it still will break down... just slower
so you're saying I should toss out my batch? about 20oz left. Stored in the shed (so hot/cold) but in the dark in an air tight container.

Still smells as good as the day it came off the plant.

I only tossed mine because I needed as much stuff I wasn’t using gone before doing some work in the house. My 18 yr old self would have dug it out of the garage.

Mine was over 3yrs old and it was a lot milder than when it was fresher, and if I remember right the conversion of molecular compounds to CBN brings about a more groggy or sleepy feeling. So this is what I brought it up - very old weed can be great for newbies who want it as a sleep aid and not because they are looking to get buzzed.
