What did you do in your garage today..?

CV joint? Does adding power through the corner make things worse?

Mine is not looking good. We are up to 90% probability of needing a rear diff. Will do a fluid change to confirm ugliness. Wrecker diff is $2800. :(
Might be the CV joint. Will road test and do some parking lot tests and see if I can narrow it to that. Didn't find any movement anywhere when I swapped tires today.

BMW detailed and moved to the corner. Sled #1 moved to the bay ready to go. Will decide Wednesday if I keep the dirtbike ready for another rip or change the oil, detail and put with BMW.

You're one day ahead of me for the same thing. Snows on both my vehicles and diagnose a weird noise on the front of our SUV. Possible wheel bearing but instead of the usual "hum" when turning to one side that gets louder the harder you turn this one is more of a "knock-knock-knock" when turning to the left but doesn't get worse and sometimes goes away when turning sharper or isn't there at all. Mechanic friend said to also check swaybar just in case (both front wheel bearings were done 3yrs ago and not much mileage since).
Had something like that stump me last year, was on a Ford Transit Connect. Turned out to be tranny issue, fairly common on 4cyl Fords, local transmission shop had 3 in from the local Ford dealer.

Put new light bulbs in on the low beam on the Odyssey.
Came down to the Big Smoke, and got brine sprayed across the hood of my car on the Gardiner when I passed the truck.
Then a couple of cars parked in the live traffic lane on the off ramp.
What were they thinking?

Did a LED headlight upgrade and front brakes on daughter's Jetta. Ended up with the dreaded ABS lights on the dash, a common gremlin after changing Jetta brake pads. Grrr.

Did you only change the pads, or did you also bleed the system? I've heard that bleeding requires resetting of the ABS module.

I also changed both rear wheel cylinders and flushed the hydraulic system with new fluid. I tried to reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery, but that didn't work. I suspect another problem or that VW likes a scan-tool reset.

I've got vcds if you want to borrow it.

Did you touch the battery wires together when disconnected? Seems dumb but VW's often like that.

Thanks -- I'll try.

I used to think the English designed the most fun electrical puzzles... now I think it's the Germans.

Do you happen to have any centre pull carbs in your collection? 69-70

Quick clean of summer wheels to get some dirt off. Summer tires up onto shelf. Winterize pressure washer and weed sprayer and blow out hoses. Oil change on lawnmower. Moved pool robot requiring surgery into the house.

Slowly getting things organized so I can get the snowblowers down and put my car in. We are over 8" of snow

Edit:
Dropped lift and pulled off snowblowers. All started easily (two easy pulls for the hondas). Need to sell one of the hondas.

Change oil, drain tank and carb, clean air filter, pull apart rear suspension and grease, give everything a good cleaning before detailing it so it’s ready for the Spring and looking good while it sits.

Cleaned up the workshop attached to my cottage. Before, walking from one end to another required squeezing in between piles of stuff. I made enough space so that I was able to wheel my project bike inside and hopefully work on it this winter.

Since my workshop is part of the main cottage I won’t be able to do any work that requires gasoline until spring, but should be able to do just about everything else.

I don’t have quite as much space on either side of the bike as would be ideal, but I do have more space then I did in my outside garage (which is packed with dirt bikes,my road bike, and all the small engine stuff you need to maintain a cottage).

Old snowblower uses these on the bottom and belt covers but they’ve been removed so many times they don’t tighten anymore. Think it’s more the holes are toast and not the bolt threads. Looking at a few options to fix if anyone has any tips.

Rivnuts? Wait for this to go on sale, drill out the existing holes and use a rivnut insert:

You can also install rivnuts without the tool using a bolt and nut if you like something cheaper.
