What did you do in your garage today..?

Great riding today  could go anywhere I aimed it, until my front tire went flat from a stud poking through.
Too much in a hurry I pinched the tube :| twice. Third attempt worked and I was rolling again.

? Some jobs it doesn't pay to rush, mounting tube tires is one of those jobs.

Probably not the intent of this thread, but the Microtik router is now functioning in the garage and Cat 5 cabling that came with the house is cooperating at gigabit speeds. Small victories. If you aren't an IT pro, i recommend picking something else. Getting it setup was donkey balls and I still have to fight my way through a few more steps (QOS, DDNS, etc).

I installed a smart garage controller that lets me use my phone to monitor and open/close the garage door from anywhere. One less thing to carry on the bike.

Today I fired up 5 motorcycles and spent the afternoon kicking and snarling at one who refuses to come out of hibernation.

What was the payoff for that again? I remember you mentioning it before. Does this have SFP ports on it or something

It does have an SFP port which may be useful when fiber shows up (or not as apparently some providers prohibit you doing that). It is mainly a stability thing, asus router hasn't been bad but has had a few instances recently where I had to crawl to it and pull the plug to get it to respond again. It is in a cabinet at the back of a platform high in the garage so that's a pain. The microtik is an 8 port so I am connecting some of the wires that were roughed in to get things off wifi and running fast (and in the process remove three wireless bridges). New router also has 4x4 mu-mimo to make wireless a little faster. Once Ubiquiti gets stock again, adding AP's to improve coverage. Might as well rebuild from the ground up and then not touch it again for a long time. Once I am happy with the functionality, I will put in VLANS to isolate traffic. Way too many things want to connect these days and most have crap security.

My buddy has tube tires on his F800GSA...
Used to drive me nuts mounting his tires...
I use a NoMar, but man these tubes were a challenge... until one day it dawned on me how to get the tube/tire all lined up and onto the rim...
I felt like a genius. I still think tubeless is the way to go, but tubes dont scare me anymore

If you already have some Ubiquiti AP’s that are working well, make sure you have or can get the current firmware in case you need to flash the new one(s) you end up buying. There's been a 2-year ongoing thread about problems with clients not getting DHCP until the AP is rebooted, and older firmware seems to fix it for some but not all. But apparently Ubiquiti thinks the latest one has solved it and locked the thread:

I have yet to try the new firmware, but will hopefully soon. My AP-AC-PRO and ER-X were rock solid since I got them in 2016, until I foolishly and unnecessarily updated the firmware last summer trying to be proactive.

I've never had cause to buy anything more than consumer grade gear... not correctly handling broadcast frames, and taking 2 years to fix it, doesn't really sell me on them

I've had nothing but bad luck with consumer grade wireless routers and having to reboot them every week. Then I got an Asus which only needed a reboot once in a year but then died right out of warranty. I was sold on all the reviews of the Ubiquiti being carrier grade and mine would have had an uptime of almost 4 years if it wasn't for me thinking that was too long to go on the original firmware.

Moving crap around as hubby just spent 20 G on a snowmobile and

Im NEXT!

So trying to store 2 old sled and get the r6 moved where I can still work on it through April.

I haven’t done much the last little bit.
Removed a broken bolt from the Versys and put Pazzo shorty levers on the Tuono....that’s about it.

Oh thanks for this reminder. I forgot I installed the same so I can open it with my phone. Would have forgotten all year.
