What did you do in your garage today..?

Finally used the Morgan Carbtune I've had for ages to do a "starter valve adjustment" on the 919. Was surprisingly easy! Hardest part was driving to Princess Auto to get new vacuum plugs after the ones on the bike disintegrated upon removal
What's a "starter valve adjustment"?

'Changed the final drive gear oil in the FjR...

Didn't really "need" to but, I was bored.

I'm glad you asked!

Basically what it boils down to is that idle air is controlled by a bypass valve on each individual throttle body. You are supposed to leave the throttle body butterflies themselves alone and instead synchronize the bypass valves. I kinda like the system as it keeps idle mechanically seperate from normal throttle operation - the idle adjustment knob controls these valves instead of moving around a throttle stop.

TLDR; it's a throttle body sync, but it's not

Edit: I also learned through this process that my bike is an ex California bike, as the disintegrated vacuum caps were put on by one of the previous owners after they deleted the EVAP system

Not my garage. Hell... Not even my bike, but there's nothing like a day of wrenching to get you prepp'd for the upcoming season...
Today it was a solid 15 degrees... Just a tease I'm sure, but feels good workin' on a bike with the bay door open

Buddy's '17 F800GSA on the table for:
-Headstock bearing retorque
-Spark plug replacement
-New Air filter
-Brake pads inspected... 'Still good :)
-Brake fluid flush/change including purge of the ABS pump
-New tires front and rear
-Chain drive cleaned, lubed, adjusted
-Engine oil and filter change.

'Took it out for a short 50km run... 'Nothing fell off so I think we're good ;-)

I did most of the maintenance during the winter months, been riding for 3 days now and she feels and handle so much better

New Tires (front and back) 2x4x8 to break the bead and tire irons :D
New Front and Rear wheel bearings
New Headstock bearings replacement
New Clutch friction/plate disc
New Front and Rear Sprockets
New Chain, bought rivet tool for this, cost more than the chain ;(
Coolant, Brake fluid, engine oil, fork oil change
valve adjustment

front and rear pads need replacement (no more money :D)

Ya. i spent quite a bit on her, she is worth it.

Good for you. Other than Brian P's bikes, little street bikes rarely get that kind of care and attention.

I installed the knock off lightec chain adjuster blocks and now the bike leans to the right baha fail

I'm uninstalling them tonight and planning to start on getting the full exhaust system installed

'Little fed up with the reservoir my Mityvac came with so I decided to build a better one.
RTV'd a old speaker magnet to the bottom of the jar... It stays put and if i let go of or drop the pump... It doesn't really go anywhere or tugg on the line connected to the bleeder valve :)

'Few dollars worth of brass fittings and some bonded washers...

Carried this out of a basement this morning and started putting it back together.

Waiting for the mailman. How long does it take to get little parts from London Ontario to Waterloo? More than 7 days apparently!
I still can't ride, but i want to spend a bit of time in the garage. Sigh.

Yesterday I test road my fjr1300 for the first time, after getting it back from the transmission recall... No issue

I had mine done a couple of weeks ago but have yet to take it out for a spin...
The only issue(s) so far was that whoever did the job forgot to reinstall the fuel tank vent hose as well as the air box vent hose/filter assembly... Didn't notice until after I had her home so... Another trip to the dealer to retrieve my hoses.
'Couple plastic pop-rivets were FUBAR, but this could have just been them wearing out... Easy fix, a friend gave me a handful of OEM replacements.

On cars, you can trigger the pump with a scan tool. Not sure on a bike.
I watched a couple of videos on youtube - they all said that the amount of brake fluid within the ABS module was insignificant - so to not bother with it.

But if Hack knows of a way - I'm curious.

I plan to flush my brake fluid soon and got this nifty tool from Fortnine / MotioPro as well:
