What did you do in your garage today..?

Mine has 277K and although I change the plugs and filter regularly I've never cleaned the MAF sensor (didn't even know cleaning it was a recommended thing).
Cleaned mine today and it was pretty gross indeed.

it went to a local shop today. Weak coil pack map sensor nasty first time getting a tuneup, service Possibly ever. Like night and day.

helped hubby check the air filter on his FZ6...easy peasy...

then, with hubby's help, we took the plastics off the FZ07 to check my air filter...what a PITA that was!!!!!

looks like I had a mouse in there...lots of seeds left over...going to order a new one (hopefully)

now going to do an oil change on both bikes...

oh, and we checked the batteries...mine's registering 12.57 V and hubby's is at 12.48 V...

all is good in the hood :D

Cams came out. Shims got changed. Made sure I timed it properly.

Made a bracket to relocate the regulator away from the radiator.

Changed plugs.

Cleaned the air filter.

Plugged the PAIR valve.

Reassembled.

She runs.

Similar to above, swapped out a bunch of shims, got her all but back together last night.

Still have some more work left to do before the season starts.

So am I the only one that’s scared to pull the motor apart further to swap the shims??

Kyle tears everything apart and is generally pretty handy, so he's cool with doing this. This was my first time and honestly a lot of it was holding the flashlight and just having him teach me the ways.

My goal is to learn a bit more on the wrenching side, but that is more his shitck for our race team. I do the marketing, sponsorship, money, food etc. He makes sure the bikes go vroom.

No shame in not knowing how to rebuild an engine or preferring someone else do the work.

Got my rear tire replaced yesterday. What a pain in the ass. So close to cutting the thing off the rim but eventually got it when my dad came over and four hands got it done. Got the first bead off in like 15 mins, then another 2hrs trying to get the other bead off.

I'd still do it again to save money, but I'm not looking forward to it...

That's odd, usually the second bead is the easier one, since you have a lot more space to move it around the drop center.

My Z900 is ready!

- Installed some engine covers
- EBC front brake pads
- typical maintenance (tire pressure, clean chain etc)
- brand new front and rear tires (Bridgestone Battlax Sport-Touring T32)

Most of my gear is here

- Shoei arrived
- TCX arrived
- Gloves are MIA
Can you share a pic?

How did his inaugural ride go? Is he liking the bike?

@Freddy Fudpucker yeah, he really likes it...says it has lots of get up and go (not like his old FZ1, but enough for the way he rides now)...he likes the sitting position, adjusted the bars a tad, but all is good...one of the two previous owners put on a Two Bros exhaust and he's not sure he likes how loud it is, (loves the sound, just not it's volume) so we might pick up some sound suppressors...I'm glad he likes it, because I hated watching him ride a bike that he didn't enjoy (the Honda he just sold) and I really would've hated him regretting buying the XT250s...happy Easter...
