What did you do in your garage today..?

Snow tires on both cars and fixed the wifes hatch. Stupid power liftgate snapped off a ball stud. Took a week to get the part, part (ordered from dealer with VIN) didnt fit the bolt spacing on the car and needed modified, old ball was very stuck in expensive power lift cylinder (eventually drilled from the back and punched it out). On the upside, stupid liftgate still works. I was a little concerned that the snapped ball stud was going to be a symptom not the cause. I miss normal gas struts.

Helmet mod for yesterday:

Saw one of these around here. Furry MC?

Pulled front sprocket off KTM and ordered a new one as apparently the usual 3-finger chain adjustment check is too tight on this bike and I’ve been running it a bit tight (just tight enough to curl the teeth).
Felt bad so I treated it to a new plug and a clean filter while I was tinkering and then coated the thing in Pledge and WD40.

Yeah, the enduros and dirtbikes like their chains *REAL* loose since the rear shock and long swingarm allows for so much travel.

I've read that a better way to set chain tension is to compress the rear end so the rear axle, swingarm pivot and front sprocket are all in a straight line, and then adjust the tensioners so that there's no chain slap or binding.

Me, I just use a ruler and whatever they recommend in the manual...

Usually 3 fingers stacked at end of the chain guide is pretty much spot on for most bikes. This gives me 51mm on my bike but the manual calls for 55-58. Figure it was close enough but I’ve bent teeth on two front sprockets now so unless I’m just eating front sprockets (chain and rear are fine) I’m putting down to the chain being a bit too tight.
