What did you do in your garage today..?

The fuel pump that I ordered from Poland last week to fix my little bike is in the hands of UPS ... in Germany.

Today, on my zx10r, I found and I think I fixed, a coolant leak that I have smelled occasionally but haven't been able to find, until now. I have never seen a drip, until a few days ago after this season's first ride on that bike, and then it dripped onto the garage floor and I was able to see where it was coming from.

Seems that all of the hose clamps have lost their clamping pressure over time. Probably the rubber underneath has gradually deformed with time. The culprit was of course one of the hardest to get to ... at the oil cooler, between the front of the crankcase and the exhaust system. And I broke the clamp when trying to tighten it. I installed a new one. No test-ride today, though.

'Getting near the end of the KLR project... New battery today and hooked up the fuel tank.
There are a few little details to finish up like sorting out the heated grips and going around giving a few bolts a final torque check and re install the bash plate...
Work done so far:
-Rebuild on the carb.
-Rebuild on the petcock.
-Fork oil change.
-New brake pads front and rear.
-New, larger than OEM front brake disc.
-Brake fluid flush/change.
Engine oil/filter change.
-Engine coolant change.
-New tires front and rear.
-Replaced choke cable
-New chain.
-New sprockets front and rear
-New battery
-New larger mirrors
-Probably a few other little things I'm forgetting...

'Buddy will probably put it up for sale when she's all done and road tested... 'Should make a nice little ADV bike for someone who's not hung up on cosmetics or someone who is into the "Mad Max" aesthetic.
'Will be sold with hard cases and even a milk crate I bet.

Just curious, is your MG display TFT and have you experienced any satellite reception issues on your 396 Garmin?

I'm looking to put a 396 or a XT above my Tracer TFT display and various forums are saying there is significant satellite signal reduction on the Garmin units.

Yes, it's a TFT, and no, I have not experienced any weirdness nor have I heard of such among Guzzi/Garmin owners.

I'm waiting for UPS.
Tell me about it. Things were flying across the border before, during and after Christmas, but now it seems like shipments are taking forever. I have three parcels sitting in various states of limbo for well over a week at the moment...

I find working on the bike quite exhausting.

Gold anodized rotors to match for me ?

This... I did this.

#@%&#$! 'Snapped the bolt right off.

Well frick. I've never had that one be an issue. Lots of lube, heat and vibration in there to keep things moving. Did it move and then stick or just broke off without moving?

Easy with any application of heat.Too much will mean seal damage.

The bolt head broke off while being tightened... So, on the bright side it's not "seized".
My fault for taking published torque specs at face value.
'Just have to get 'hold of it and hopefully it'll turn out pretty easily. 'New bolt ordered and en route.

Well that's positive. If I had mig, I'd try welding a nut, since I don't left hand drill bits should make quick work of it.
