We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

Have you guys seen any 22LR ammo lately?

Sail (Etobicoke) was sold out, Lebaron (Mississauga) sold out, and nothing or almost nothing at canadaammo, ammosource, tradeex, or wanstallsonline.

I guess the 22 drought that has plagued the US is finally here.

My local walmart had a bunch of the big boxes. Considered buying it even though I don't own a .22 atm lol

Maybe I will go for an ammo hunt tomorrow then. Gotta visit Mom in Stratford anyway -- if Stratford is out I'll check the Woodstock area Walmarts.

Don't shoot yet - but come the 10th of December I'll be licensed! Doing both the restricted and non-restricted course at Ready, Aim in Oakville.
How long did it take to book there? I called and emailed a few days ago and I haven't heard back yet.
I'd also like to go there that weekend.

EDIT: They finally called me back after a few days and now I'm booked for next week. Can't wait.

Had some smaller boxes of 36 grain too

I should have detoured to Woodstock, it seems.

Canadian Tire in Stratford only had a 500 round box for $39.99 -- way too much. At that price for 22, I'd rather shoot 7.62x39 or 5.56. TSC had no 22 ammo.

Then I stopped in Kitchener at The Gun Store on King St., and they were selling Winchester 222 22LR for $16.99 -- again too much for such few rounds.

I've never tried those dynapoint rounds you posted, so I don't know how my rifle/magazines will like them, but I would certainly try a box if I saw one.

good to know, I guess I wont be stocking up on it while I wait for TS to call me for the safety course, once thats out of the way and I get my ATT i'll shoot through the 1000 rounds I bought and draw my own conclusion.

I'm thinking of buying a .22 handgun to add to the Glock, GSG makes a 1911 22 tat has good reviews, there is something about 1000+ rounds for under $100 that really appeals to me. what do you guys think?

Yeah it may work for you just dont buy too much until you try it, I did go back on Sat and shot another 250 rounds of it and 300 rounds of my American Eagle. I was able to shoot better but I do have to aim the gun differently to make them go where I want them to go. And even still after another 250 I am still more accurate and consistent with the American Eagle. So I am still not sure at this point if I would stock up on it again if there are other options. As I am really trying to get better, not just pull the trigger and hear bang bang and not care where I put the holes in the paper...

I met an older Russian gentleman there on Sat, he was doing 25 yard one handed precision shooting on small targets. It was great the guy was so accurate! One handed leaning back with his other hand in his pocket LOL I was like really! Thats how you stand, it looks like your chilling out with that lean and hand in the pocket. Really nice guy he pushed me to try his Taurus 9mm that had some gun smith work done to it, as well as his .22. Both were really smooth shooters with like 2lb triggers. He commented on the .22 being great because he can shoot all day for just a few bucks, and really accurate with literally no recoil at all.

Got my holster kit today, so tonight looks like I'll be walking around the house like a cowboy practicing LOL

Im a sucker for black anodized billet aluminum parts so I went with the Double Alpha Race Master
Really good quality from what I see so far, was worried about the belt DA said to order same size as your pants but online reviews said to go one size bigger. I did that and I think I made a good choice because smaller would have been too small it looks like

Yep, DAA pouches rock! I ordered racers because they offered no functional advantage over race masters and all of my sporting gear already looks ratty, so I didn't wanna splurge extra for style :) Their belts are also the best as they are the stiffest. Did you get them from Doubletap?

I ordered direct from DA, it all came in about a week and they had a package on their site that included everything in the pic besides the barrel support that cost another $20. I like the fact I can buy different inserts for $45 to make it take other pistols, as I am really leaning towards buying that Tanfoglio or CZ in the new year.

The guy Saul I believe he is the owner or manager is really good too, I filled out the shopping cart a few weeks earlier to see what the total would be but didn't order it. I got an Email from him asking if there was a problem or why I didn't finalize the order. Which was good because I had a technical question I wanted to ask before I ordered anyways, so it was nice to get such good customer service.

man those holsters and race guns are badass...

What I don't like about my holster with waist paddle is it tends to angle in (at the top) towards my body so my movement has to be precise, as there's nothing holding the bottom (muzzle) of the holster at my thigh. Drop leg holsters are good for this but who wants to strap that on.....

Just stick a puck to the bottom part of the holster and that will keep the gun oriented in a neutral position. I should get around to doing that with mine lol

Everything on this one seems to have a lot of adjustment available, even the mag punches are on a swivel with a set screw to lock them into position....The holster can also be adjusted forward or back, and is also on swivel for angle. Probably a pain in the *** to setup and find whats comfortable but lets you get what you want

I've just learned to live with it.. I like that I can slip the holster onto any of my pants (quickly) without any adjustments or fiddling.

That wouldn't change it. You are just adding some padding on the bottom of the holster... You still slip it on and the gun stays vertical.

My thigh pushes the muzzle end of the holster out as it is, so if anything, I need something to push the top of it away from my waist to make it vertical...

Ahhh ok.. I'm running a low-rider bracket and I've seen others struggle with the same and someone else who solved the issue :)

Are you guys wearing jeans with your holsters? I'm looking to get something that works well with 5.11 tactical pants as all my jeans are low low riders and really not supportive for a holster set up. Anyone got any insight on what would work best?
