We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Lol, what was your issue with the CZ-75? The only major issue with that platform is that there are lighter options for daily carry lol Btw mounted a new "eye" on my baby.. All fiberoptic and tritium, no electronics, great optical clarity

Tomorrow, I'm expecting for the 3x magnifier to arrive, mostly for shooting matches where there are smaller targets past 200yds.

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

When the mag is empty the slide doesn't cock back. Plus when dropping the slide, the lever is not accessible by my thumb. If I twist my hands, I'm almost pointing the gun to the next guy besides me.

The Springfield xd is made of a metal slide with plastic receiver. That makes the gun very top heavy, not easy to control if you're shooting .40 s&w

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

When the mag's empty the slide SHOULD lock back. Your friend is either using bad mags or having a malfunctioning gun - maybe the slide stop is on its way out. Mine locks back every time even though I only do it when shooting off the bench. When downrange, racking the slide costs time, which lowers the hit factor, so I try not to let it happen ;) Yeah, the slide release is bad for small hands, but I just rack the slide anyway, so it's a non-issue for me. Also, with the weak recoil spring that I'm using, if I slam in a full mag, the slide goes forward on its own anyway lol

The Shadow is a heavy, accurate gun that is easy on the recoil due to its weight and overall ergos are great. That's why everybody and their grandmother shoots Production with it. I'll have to take you out again so you can shoot mine. You will see that the slide WILL lock back on an empty :p

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Got my RPAL in the mail last week! Now looking for local gun club/ranges to join and take hand gun courses at. Looked into Burlington gun club, target sports, and silverdale so far. Any other suggestions where to start now that I have my lic. I live in mississauga so Burlington is the closest that I know of

Burlington is a good 24hr facility. Apply for a membership now, but it may take like a year for the thing to process due to high demand. You can show up as a walkin for the safety course (once a month) to fill the slot of anyone who didn't show up for it. If there are other walkins waiting for the spot, that's determined by the time of the original membership application. If you're gonna be shooting long guns (and you better.. they're FUN :D), your best bet is Galt in Cambridge. One of the top 2 facilities I've seen in Ontario. The other one is EESA, just short of London.

This might be an option for you as well, I have been a member here for years, unfortunately as of late I have not had the time to go up as much as I would like...

Burlington is close but that is about it, I would not be a member there if it was for free, but that is my opinion....

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

I thought I would be one of the only people on this forum with a PAL. It's awesome to know there are responsible firearm owners as well as riders.

Anyone a full member of GRGC? I need to complete my shoots despite being a member of GRC for 6 years.

Yikes... You need to go out more often.. Checked out the facility but wasn't a big fan of their hours or initiation process (FYI Galt is similar, BRRC is pretty laid-back), so I went with BRRC.

I agree. I've been a member over a year now and I haven't been completed my 12 shoots. I'm only a member there to access the rifle range and try trap. but, it'd be nice to have a buddy to drag out :D

I'm free this weekend so I'll be heading up. If anyone is a member of GRGC, PM me!

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Am I interpreting the Galt price list correctly?

$315 for membership, then additional:
$85 for handgun section
$85 for indoors range
$45 for rifle
$60 initiation fee
$230 handgun safety course
$170 for club holster course

So the first year is a thousand bucks... but are those range fees payable every year too? That puts renewals at $530.

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Yeah, it's pretty steep, but I'd save the price difference over EESA on gas alone, not to mention the time I'd spend driving. Compare that with $600-700 at the Grange for a dinky little indoor range. Silverdale is $300 but you gotta deal with the walkins and the extra distance. We don't have much choice in Ontario.

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

I am up for a day of trap.....have not been in a long time, would be good to blow out the cob webs.....

I looks like so much fun but i'm not sure how crowded it gets. I cannot wait to try it out but I feel a 12 gauge is overkill.

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

I'd like to try if someone will sign me in as a guest. All I got's a Supernova, but then again, I've seen guys put up decent scores with 870's.

I would, but I don't have that privilege yet.

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

we don't need a range, anyone have some property that we can use and legally discharge a firearm, I have a clay thrower, manually operated by foot I can bring, someone grab a box of clays, I am not sure how many I have left......it's not the same as from a trap house, but it works......

That sounds 10x more fun than a trap range... just sayin'

Amen... If we can find a property, we can start a new thread ;)

sigh. Land - that's the tough part. Clays were on sale at Bass Pro the other week for cheap.

Totally.
