Want to start shooting, anyone care to get me started?

Yea, good luck having that much fun anywhere in southern ontario....

That looks like a lot of fun but unless you've got a nice spot to yourseld up north, you'll be shooting at federally controlled ranges in more sedate methods ;)

Action pistol and shooting clays are more exciting for GTA residents.

.....

The process is as follows:

- Take the 2 day course (PAL/RPAL)
- Send out your paperwork
- Get it back, send it out again
- Call in or have rcmp call you and your references for an interview
- Get license
- Buy gun
- Join club
- Do another course/probationary shoot
- Get att and finally be allowed to take your gun to the range

Hope you have patience!

Just keep in mind that from the moment you start the course, to the moment you get your paws on a legally-acquired firearm, it takes a few months. Hence the Hope you have patience! remark from Paul1000RR

I figured it would take a few months, so i'll just get my RPAL and decide from there.

I've been interested in taking the RCMP gun courses and doing this for a while now. Seriously. PM me if you're still looking for someone to do this with.

Trust me, book it now...

forget about target sports...overpriced on all fronts....let me look up some stuff...

where are you located?

I challenged my PAL exam but my fiancee took a course in Barrie....it was a 2 week wait for her...and it was cheapest of all the places.

okay so these guys offer courses and exam challenges...thats where i challenged the exam....

I have to throw this warning out though.... DO NOT GO TO TERRA NOVA ARMORY! this is their website: http://www.terranovafirm.com/

Its a scam, hes not a certified instructor...he basically "coaches" you to do the exam in his living room, and then sends you off to find a place to challenge it yourself....waste of money, i almost got scammed myself.

The Barrie place is done at the Barrie Gun Club through Barb Evangelinos, her number is 705-726-2651. My friend took the course 2 weeks after and they are both happy with the knowledge they gained.

I did mine with these guys. Its an entire weekend.
Dont worry about not knowing anyone, if you're not antisocial, you'll find someone to talk to.

Lead instructor was fine, so was the old guy there. The old guy was pretty funny, he walks pretty slow, but I've never seen someone line up the sights of a rifle so fast. He also shared a secret about the 1911 most ppl do not know.

I shoot at silverdale (http://www.silverdalegunclub.com/) its about an hour from toronto. No range compares to this place, outdoor, open 7 days a week all light hours. Plenty of space and the staff is laid back not like at other places cough cough target cough cough. :D

......

Finally if you wanna meet me at silverdale one day to shoot, shoot me a pm and we'll set something up. Its $20 for a non member day pass.

This seems like fun. I think the difference with a rifle is that you're able to reach out and reach a target

I have a fairly similar video, but it involves switching from my C-8 to my Browning... Looks a lot like COD since you see my hands and when I do my drills. But, it's not exactly youtube safe so I don't have it up.

I LOVE shooting clays. I'll take duck hunting over any other, just because it's such a blast!

And such secret is...

( I won't tell )
I think I might know what it is. And if it is what I think it is, then it's not something I want to be responsible for some dumb *** trying (because some people have tried it with poor results)

So your saying you dont need a ATT for a rifle? Also, whats a good average cost for 50 rounds? Target sports Canada are selling them for about $17.5.

Technically, it's legal for you to take a walk to Union station with a rifle slung over your shoulder so you can take the GO-Train across to meet up with your ride. You might get hassled by the popo for that even though it's perfectly legal, but Toronto is full of uneducated antis that are afraid of the unknown. $17.50 for 50 rds of .22LR?! You sure it wasn't 500?

It really depends what ammo. 9mm about $20 for 50 rounds.

Cheaper if you buy in bulk. You can get 1000 for as little as $250, but if you really get into action shooting, you'll do your own reloading anyway. Only way to afford it on an honest buck.

This is a good place to take the course. Worth the cash. Sometimes you might luck out and score on a cancellation.
