I really wish that you cops would bust the cabbies that drive in the left lane on a 4 lane road & breaking all the time looking for fares, it happened to me one day to where I almost smashed into him because he would pick up speed then all of a sudden brake in the left lane because he seen someone walking on the sidewalk, I was so ****** off I started to yell at him once he moved over to the right lane!

Well the offer was made, for those who think it stinks or isn't legit, there is a simple solution. Just don't send the officer any info. then you need not worry about it.
Zenice, sorry man not buying your story, the SUV attempted to take over your lane, so rather than slow down and let him have that space, you decided it was "safer" to ride 69 Km/h OVER the legal limit?? you also said this SUV was doing 100 in an 80, so had you given it a quick blip of the throttle your acceleration would have been much greater than an SUV and you "may" have shot up from 100 to 120, but not to 149. That shows you were just intent on "challenging" the SUV and staying in front. If this fool was that aggressive in his driving then the MUCH safer place to be is behind him not in front of him.
If this was witnessed from above and he was truly that aggressive they would have no doubt gone after him. The officer on the ground wouldn't have had the same view. But certainly the supervisor in the plane did and he deemed your riding to be more of an issue. I am sure you disagree, just as most of us who have gotten what we feel may be a "bogus ticket" But that is why we have a legal system to challenge the tickets.

The guy in the plane is typically a Constable, not a Sgt. or other supervisor. They really do have an incredible view of what goes on down on the highway. I've been trained as an aircraft observer but the constant left turns in the plane make me a little queasy after 2 hours or so.
My XR650R is a little loud. Exhaust is quiet but the motor scares small children.

There are a few hurdles before charges can be laid. Video evidence is regularly used in courts these days and when paired with testimony from an eye witness (police or otherwise) it can be quite compelling. If we can satisfy the basic requirements to lay a charge, referred to as reasonable and probable grounds that an offence has been committed, it's good to go.
I know a lot of officers may not use this approach because it results in a he said/she said in court. I think that the video itself is what tips the scale and that it's worth it to try. Ultimately it doesn't matter what the police think, it is up to the prosecutor to be willing to send it to trial, and a JP that is willing to convict.
Just my perspective.

If bike cop really wants something to pursue in regards to bad driving, he should hang out near highway on ramps and ticket drivers going 50 km/h merging into highway lanes that are doing 110-120 km/h. That would do a lot more good than offering to look at videos that ends up doing very little to ticket truly bad drivers.

I'm sure Bike Cop also is observant of such behaviours as well as going above and beyond his regular duty to pursue bad drivers in dash cam videos as well!

Everyone travels at 100-110 in this section. We were side by side traveling at the same speed. There was a kid driving a red sunfure maybe 1 car length behind. Maybe your on a 250 but a 200hp bike drop a gear and crack it gets to 150 very fast. There are no videos from the plane to prove it. This is over and off my rrcord, but was not right

yeah it wasnt good driving at all, but you werent in any real danger there.

and i agree with the guy that mentioned on ramps and slow mergers also ppl that drive the same speed as the person beside them, or ppl that drive in your blindspots

Wtf? I want that van off the street. Brake checking should never be done. Also, dash cams are usually fisheyed making everything seem slower and further away.
I don't see anything wrong with people taking ramps at slow speeds because at least no one is in danger...this is coming from someone that regularly tries to touch down on every ramp.
I've had a dashcam/helmetcam for years and only caught a handful of egregious driving events (I don't mean stuff that just pisses people off like Rob makes videos out of, but imminently dangerous driving). I don't he's offering an outlet for people to vent our driving frustrations, but a solution to actually improve the safety on our roads.
Only two incidents I can think of was when someone tried to door prize me (which I was lane splitting in so not sure how that would turn out) and a car overtaking me in my lane using the left shoulder on 401 during rush hour.
But if we start talking about overall driver skill....yep, I hate how bad our drivers are; only few of them are actually dangerous though.
What would you charge the cab driver with? Illegal braking?
Bike Cop, just a suggestion. If the police ran an advanced road riders course which was a watered down version of your own police training you could: (a) make some money for the force (b) engender some safer riding practices and handling skills among riders, and (c) get a lot of goodwill instead of the "rebel without a cause" "f^&k the popo" crap that a certain subsection of the riding community seems to have in their overimaginative minds.
They have this in the UK and it's pretty popular, I think it may also get you a break on your insurance over there too.

to me, it looks like the van changed lanes without signalling, ( wrong , but it wasnt a cut off , the bike was about to pass quickly ) the driver heard the horn and hit the brakes becasue he was shocked, kinda thing. it didnt look like a deliberate brake check is what im getting at
