Yeah, I think it did for the most part - it didn't crash in the first 24 hours as I suggested it might, and it seems to be getting the job done as we're having some amazing record-making days (200,000 a day on some days which is frankly a logistical miracle) so there's that.

It just seems like there's some holes that need to be filled so far as rescheduled/cancelled reservations not being reopened properly, but as I mentioned, I suspect there's a segment of the population who are jacking the system.
To get an appointment in the provincial system you need the health card number, version code and the nine digits on the back. I doubt people have access to many of those datasets. If the provincial system requires all that data and doesn't check for validity, wtf.

I agree, but there must be some loopholes because there's been no shortage of stories of people "vaccine" shopping early on and showing up for an appointment only to ditch when they were told they weren't getting their vaccine of choice, only to go back again days later (at an appointment they already had) and try again.

That, and there being no reasonable explanation for why there's so many slots going unfilled when it turns out they've already got their shot elsewhere earlier.

In sorta unrelated news.... official announcement today that the border is still closed for another month basically.

FFS...... It's not like they haven't had a year to get the requirements and procedures sorted out for who can and can't cross once vaccines were sorted out.

We had to cancel our Sobey’s Pharmacy appts separately. Easily done through a link in the appt. email.

People are gaming the system.

Maybe if there was a financial penalty for a no-show without reasonable proof why you couldn’t make the appt., perhaps we would see this on a much smaller scale.

JT's team is probably working hard on a solution to prove vaccination. I would be shocked if they had a functional system by next year yet alone next month.

I agree. No show or show and reject vaccine should be $100 or so. Especially for places like pharmacies that get no money unless the shot is administered.

Shopping around is human nature. They should have made it clear who can get what where. Expecting people not to want a choice is laughable and sad. We are not a dictatorship, regardless of how much our governments wish it so.

Especially for second doses, they should make it clear, NACI aside, the actual peer reviewed data about mixing and matching is spotty at best.

At the time people were shopping around, every pharmacy only had AZ. Booking a pharmacy shot and hoping for an alternative had similar odds to getting a free gold bar with your shot. It wasnt shopping around it was stupid ignorant behaviour. Some people kept doing it over and over with the same result.

If you wanted mrna you had to book through the provincial system and then you were almost guaranteed mrna (I dont know if provincial system ever used AZ).

People are still shopping around, preferring Pfizer over Moderna is a big one right now.

And many are shopping just to get the same vaccine they got the first time as they do not trust NACI.

Just booked my second AZ shot. When I asked to change they said it’ll be a long time as thousands of people on their Pfizer wait list.

My wife's in getting her second shot right now. When I had mine, I had to go back to the other pharmacy site and cancel my existing appt through their site, no link between pharmacies.

On the subject of bordering opening, I heard some places in the states aren't accepting double AZ jabs as valid proof of vaccination, since it's not approved by the FDA.

Got my second shot Thursday, Pfzier in Hamilton @ West 5th Campus. First shot was AZ @ Pharmacy, 8 weeks to the hr. Friday I just felt super drained and warm without a fever. Saturday no issues @ all. July 1 is day I consider myself fully vaxxed. Huzzah!

I got my second Pfizer shot about an hour and a half ago at Trillium Hospital. No line up and I was out in about 20 minutes including the 15minute wait. So far no side effects.

I was eventually set for the end of July, then June 23 at Cloverdale Mall then today. I'll cancel the 23 date,

As far as getting any progress out of Ottawa don't hold your breath. The gang there is on a honeymoon with all the consultants they've hired over the last while. The consulting budget is over the moon.

Got an email message the other day about earlier 2nd shot appointment. Great, check out the 2 locations, annnnnnddd..
nothing available.

I was under the impression that the second shot would be scheduled and we wouldn't have to jump through hoops again.
Yeah, 3 days ago, I tried twice to get my earlier 2nd shot in Peel, no luck, nearest location I could go was Hamilton. Screw that. The provincial website specified that I should get Pfizer since that was what I got for my 1st shot. Ended up booking with Rexall for Pfizer but they need to contact me when they get the juice. I think I may never hear from them. So may have to wait for my "normally scheduled" 2nd shot in August.

I heard that too, on 680 CFTR. It was some attraction or theatre or something like that. FDA approved shots only.
