The main thing is if you can afford it then go for it... otherwise get what you can afford both bike wise and insurance.
He said he's considering the S1000RR, so I figured money wasn't an issue.
I think I paid about 2k a year for my 1000RR.
The main thing is if you can afford it then go for it... otherwise get what you can afford both bike wise and insurance.
get a 1000...............all the 600 guys are against it
I loved the power difference from r6 to r1 , I would never go back.
you always want more,
do you liter bike guys think of upgrading to a 'busa or zx14?
The ones that can't ride for ****you always want more,

Take a few 1000's for a test ride (either dealer or Kijiji). The first time you ride one you'll realize how comfortable and easy it is to ride compared to your 600.I am contemplating about the idea of moving up to SS litre bikes. Main reason is the faster pick up with less effort...with the 600, it seems like I need to give it a good twist to get it out fast. However, I am still a pretty conservative rider, ao even on hwy, I go within traffic pace, maybe pacing with the faster vehicles but not trying to filter through cars going at 180+ all the time. In that regard, my 636 is more than enough.
Also, I plan to get another used bike, and from what I heard, the engine of litre bikes are generally in better condition than most 600cc. But that's case by case and you need to look at the actual bike itself. But I am guessing, given the same maintenance level, a 1000cc bike would be more durable than a 600cc??
The key concerns are the insurance and the handling. I still consider myself a novice with only 2 seasons, so, my turns still has a lot of room for improvement. Would the litre bike makes it a lot harder to adjust to the turns? Also, I said I wanted someone for easier acceleration, but would it be a bit too much to handle?? Haha. I had never ridden on a SS litre bike so I don't even know the feeling. None of close friends have one, so never got first hand experience.
Anyone who had made the move from 600 to 1000 can share their thoughts, that would be great.
I am considering the zx10, cbr1000rr, R1 and slight chance of a S1000RR but I kind of worry about BMW's electronics relability cuz i personally had bad experiences with their cars, not sure if it transends into their bikes... : p
(R1 got TC and anti-wheelie in 2012, 2009+ got three mods, A, STD and crap).
HAHAHAHA! nice.So thats where TAFB got it from .
How many of you who are against getting a litrebike for the street, have actually owned and ridden one? (serious question)
Most of the people I know who have, love the litrebike. I think I *may* have read someone talk about downgrading because it was too much for the street..don't think I actually know anyone who did.
Of the people I know who ride them, none have ever complained about mileage, bulkiness, too much power, insurance, etc.
If insurance is an issue for you, you will want to check the price difference.
I've ridden litre (or more) bikes for 30 years and prefer the heft and punch to a 600 (or 750 although I've not ridden the GSXR750 which I think is a terrific bike). I ride my wife's 600 and very much enjoy it but I prefer the punch of my 1000.
For those that tell you that a litre bike is overkill, they're correct. So is a 600. So is a 500 for that matter if you are only interested in whether it will easily keep pace with traffic. Personally, I like to be able to get the hell out of dodge when trouble is brewing and like to twist the wrist and disappear. I like fast bikes and fast cars. I can afford them and the insurance that goes with them.
There are many good deals on used litre bikes. If I was interested in creating a fleet I'd likely be adding a Duc and an MV. Maybe the Kawi too. I was just cruising the GP Bikes inventory and had to stop because I was drooling.
Regarding the BMW S1000RR there are varying opinions. Most that I know love the bike, including me. No problems with anything other than a switchgear that got replaced under warranty after 20,000 kms. I have 37,000 on mine right now.
Happy shopping!
the only thing that's nice about my litre bike in the city is the fact that i'm not shifting gears constantly and can roll around in 2nd or third without issue. Other than that, it is overkill for city riding. a 600 is more than enough, it's all about the rider
Having a lot of power is awesome, but having a lot more power is awesomer.
lol I was waiting for you to comment on my Busa shot that was designed as a joke for youGet a litre bike because they are awesome. If I could ride one all day I'd be on a CBR1000RR.
You are the joke.lol I was waiting for you to comment on my Busa shot that was designed as a joke for you
