Upgrading from SS 600cc to litre bike

Busa or ZX14...still don't know what they are or who they were meant for. They are kind of ridiculous...big, fat, ugly, awkward. A Busa or a ZX14 is a downgrade from a liter bike. Relics of a street-fight gone bad between Kawi and Suzuki. I'd like to see both manufactures dump them for something more desirable like the TL1000RR. Imagine...choice of liter bikes within your own manufacturer. The Busa looks like it may float...perhaps they could make an amphibious vehicle out of it.

They are both the results of a speed war between motorcycle producers for top speed until the EU said "stop this **** or we won't buy your bikes anymore". Though I believe the ZX14R broke that agreement very recently. Surprisingly, Suzuki's busa hasn't fought back yet (it only got the same upgrades the GSXR line did w/ the brembo stuff irc).

To be honest, I want a Hayabusa for the street when I can afford the insurance on it (4-10 years from now).

Neither one is the fastest thing on two wheels though. They seem to have found a solid niche as a heavy sporty bike for really large riders and as a very capable sporty touring capable bike. I prefer the K1300S personally, but I think the Busa and ZX14 are fine bikes. Just please don't stretch the swingarm!!

No disrespect to Busa owners. I guess a lot people don't really know the story behind he Busa. It was meant to be ugly!

Ten years after the launch of the extraordinarily successful Suzuki Hayabusa, the man responsible has finally spoken about its controversial appearance.

Koji Yoshiura spoke exclusively to MCN about creating the original 1999 machine, which gained an instant cult following as well as outraging politicians with its near-200mph capability.

Koji Yoshiura said: “The mission was to create a total new styling that will not be out of date within few years, and a styling that will be the ‘Face’ of Suzuki.

“‘Fastest production motorcycle’ was never a concept nor a target of this bike (at the beginning of the project, the Hayabusa was not 1300cc but 900cc – 1100cc, which was the main market in those days).

"As a consequence of, pursuing the best handling, acceleration, safety, power, riding ability, original styling, etc., for the good of the customers, it became the ‘Fastest production motorcycle’.

“My aim was to create a somewhat grotesque design and create a strong initial impact.

"By doing this, once the model was out in the market and the performance of it have been proven, I thought that people will start to show interest to the weird design, and then the design would be caked in peoples mind.”

I guess his vision panned out...sort of.

Not everyone wants to go fast in the corners. Some people just want to be drag strip queens.
Don't believe me? Look at the muscle car guys (for the most part).

Sport-Touring. I thought the classification of those bikes was obvious by the title.

im in my forties. a 1000 is 1300 for insurance, a 600 is 700. had a 1000 for a decade. my current 600 has enough to kill you just as a 1000.

a 1000 is for dragsters, a 600 is for riders. any clown can rip the throttle to make up for the guy working his 600.
my final decision was insurance based. in 5 years i saved 2500 which i enjoyed on clothing and acc for the bike.
the purchase cost is about 2500 between a 600 or 1000. 50 more HP never came so cheap.

money no option get the liter

I don't know why people are saying a 1000 has the same handling as a 600. In my experience a 600 is a lot more agile on the track then a 1000. On the street you probably won't notice.

That's because your 1000 is like mine, an elephant! Try an 05+ litre and then we'll talk ;)

You are talking about a 20 pound difference between the 2 machines from around 07 and up. If you can notice that, time to start lifting bro.

I've never owned a litre bike, so I can't give you an opinion.

That hasn't stopped a whole lot of other people. Come on, tell the OP how he don't need no stinkin' litre bike. You've probably seen one on the street once, that qualifies you for an opinion on this thread.

There was one at the dealer when I bought my bike. Don't do it. Too fast :lmao:

I predict android rules based on nothing more than preference

Just pushing my 600 and 1000 around the pits you notice the difference right away. On the track you notice it doesn't change directions as easily, it takes me 1/2 a day at least on the 600 till my brain can translate what my eyes are seeing on the 1000.

If you think your ready go for the 1000.

Those last 46cc make all the difference.

There was a thread a while ago here on the forum asking members if they considered the CBR954RR a litre bike. I can't find the thread anymore, but I recall that most did not consider it a proper litre bike. I'm going by that.

My friend went from a 500 too a 1000rr and he seemed too enjoy the ride. Now mind you I took it out for a spin one day not use to the power, and when I went too pass a vehicle I actually popped the front wheel up twice. Needless too say my adrenaline was through the roof and I drove home 1 km/h below the speed limit that day
