Everybody keeps saying this. When has any councilor or administrator, let alone mayor, been found to have their hand in the cookie jar? Last I recall is Tie Domi's brother with the MFP leasing scandal some 15 years ago.

The implication is not that they enrich themselves, but rather that they pauper the citizenry. Given that Toronto has the lowest taxes in the region, that's rather laughable.
 
Am I the only one that thinks public servants should be held to higher standard than others when it comes to integrity, ethics and honesty? If it were me, I would make any guilty matter punishable by confiscating 2x the amount they stole and atleast 25 years in jail with no parole.

Thats exactly why I'm so disgusted by Rob and Doug Ford. They don't reach the bar for the average Joe, let alone for a public servant. Integrity, ethics, and honesty.

Just in case people mistake this post for a serious one, it's useful to point out that Chow has led every "Who would you vote for?" poll so far, even though she won't announce until Thursday! Even one of the Sun's many, many useless polls has her in the lead:

The reality is right now, the race is between Chow and Tory on the L and R, and given Toronto's history of rabid swings from L to R and back again with every new mayor, she's almost a sure thing.

Voting against everything including your own budget and alienating other votes on council is no way to run a city. Austairity is not the answer and complaining of taxes when you have the lowest tax rate in the region is just selfish and short sighted. Why not make Toronto great?

Rob Ford has never let facts get in the way of his opinions and it seems neither do many of his defenders. All of Fords Tent poles in his campaign are lies or fabrications of the truth. Toronto deserves better no matter what your political leanings are. He is doing a terrible job of extoling the conservative values he pretends to stand for.

You are definitely not alone. The mere fact that this goonish parade has been allowed to carry on this far is deplorable. That cheesy poof eating tub has done nothing but make Toronto look like a total joke. All the bs aside, he should have stepped away long ago in the interest of the city.
 
Olivia Chow will officially declared her candidacy for Mayor of Toronto this morning. God help Toronto.

God cant help Toronto, if he could, Ford would be in rehab. Chow would be the craziest thing to hit the city in a wee while. She's very popular as MP and did lobby for transfer payments to cities, but all the good work is lost on me with her former life in subsidized housing while making a great wage. Living out of the public trough has been good for her, and Jack while he was with us. All of Jacks nutty ideas will come to fruition.

God has forsaken Toronto. But Strombo is going to Hockey night in Canada so there is hope......

I bought into that lie too, until I did the research. They lived in a co-op. While the rent of many tenants was subsidized, theirs was not.
