To be masked or not to be masked

exactly, I too can't match my reality and what I see in the news... My example - my g/f takes tests religiously to avoid infecting her mother, so according to those tests (one pcr and one rapid) she had Rona twice - she never had ANY single symptom!! I was with her all the time and never had any tests and also never had ANY symptoms! We both have x2 vaccines as it mandatory for both of us to work, but that's it. Mind you we both pretty athletic (she is under 12 hrs Ironman/woman) and we get all our vitamins and stuff religiously.. but I still yet to know personally a single person who had BAD symptoms... just curious what all the fuss about.... and before some start freaking out - I don't mind masking when mandated, but now I just follow the guidance and lost my mask...
I know at least 5 people that could barely get out of bed for a week. 30s-40s and vaccinated. Did you see @privatepilots post. Him and his wife were down for the count for awhile.

I had it last year, no symptoms other then low energy for 1 day.

don't get me wrong, I do believe some people suffered and died, but it's just hard personally after 3 years of fear (and nothing) stay vigilant and afraid... you just got tired of scarry news at some point and just move on with your life...

Fair point. But it was and always has been about the vulnerable. We live in a society that (at least health wise) those less fortunate are not shunned.

Maybe more people should read Darwin.

Or we could take it back to Sparta and throw the weak ones off a mountain at birth. If it was your kid you’d probably have something to say about it.

Anywho, tongue in cheek. I agree with you, it gets tiring and we all want to get back to ‘living’.

Two way street.

Healthy individuals were forced to be vaccinated and masked up'd, if not lose your job, pretty much anyone with a Anti vax and anti mask mindset was shunned by the general public.

This is actually happened to my wife in our family circle, but now after going through a positive test to Covid maybe she was smarter than I by not getting jabbed in the first place.

I think saying forced is disingenuous.

‘Healthy’ individuals could still end up in the hospital. Job requirements can easily be updated, I don’t see the difference.

Isn’t anyone seen as a ‘non team player’ shunned?

Given that all signs seem to indicate that being vaccinated significantly lessens the chance of severe symptoms, I would tend to disagree with that assessment.

*Indicate* and slightly lessens, that's a reach Rob.

I was vaxxed, and I infected my wife.

This thing is a game of chance, I'm pretty sure everyone will get their turn testing positive before the end of the year.

I'm still ok with my decision last year to get double vaxxed, as I thought at that time it was the right decision. But no booster, I just can't trust what's being published/preached anymore.

I think we all should chill out and stop debating at this point. We already have 90% majority who believe(forced to believe) in vaccine, and the rest nothing you can do to force... Mutations seems getting weaker and weaker with every iteration so waves are getting less and less deadly even for the vulnerable ones...

BUT isn't it the time to look at the strongest to get back to work to make this country/economy going? Keeping the strongest and most able home not able to work properly and generate GDP will only come back to us later and would affect those vulnerable in the different way when our gov will not be able to pay for those programs due to failed economy...

So we all grown ups - wear your mask if you feel necessary and go back to work, not asking our gov for another lockdown as an excuse for more hand outs for sitting home...

Peace ☮ ✌

The entire cornerstone of our society is healthy debate. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Mild symptoms. Just congestion. Croaky voice. Eyes keep watering. Energy seems ok though. My issue is that in putting up my stupid BBQ gazebo I’ve screwed my back up on top of this lol. So the advice is test again after 5 days, if negative all good but you can be infective until day 10 apparently so the advice seems mixed. Wear a mask for a further 5 days seems to be a good thing to do . If still positive on day 5 then isolate for 5 more days and then all is good on day 11 positive or not.

I’m triple vaxxed. Mild symptoms seem to follow that. Weak line on the RAT test may or may not mean anything in terms of amount of viral protein produced at this point.

There are two points where I think I got this. The coughing spluttering store clerk in one place I went to last week (on an errand for the wife, which I continuously remind her of) or my neighbour who volunteers to feed the homeless who has been renamed Typhoid Mary.

Unless you wore gloves everywhere, probably a lot of opportunity for unintended contact.

Jay, lots of vaccines have multiple doses to keep an antibody count up and we only find the dose schedule over time. We are still “in” this time so we are still working out the correct dose schedule. Right now 3 seems optimum. There‘s likely going to be a 4th, some of your childhood vaccines were the same. Some of those required 4 or 5 jabs but the benefit there is that those are historic and we know the optimum schedule.

Because of the lack luster testing I don’t even know what strain of covid I had. Could have been delta, omnicron or even cheese n onion flavor. Who knows if I had taken a 3rd shot if it would even be effective.

Now that you’ve tested positive I will be interested to see your thoughts on the 5 day time out. Hopefully you will rebound quickly.

Take care gws.

Jay

It's just more stats. Something like 80% of the risk of you transmitting it to someone else are in the first five days. The next five days you have about a 20% chance. Depending on your workplace, some pick five, some pick ten. It depends on their desire to have bodies at work weighed against the chance of more people getting infected.

My eldest son tested positive on day 5 and then on day 7. He was good on day 8, the day he woke up without a sore throat, cough or runny nose. Totally back to normal now with no lingering effects.

When me and the wife got it... She was wiped out for a few days.. The only symptom I had was some back pain.

Just checked in with a buddy. Unvaxxed, was wiped out for all of last week, going from bedroom to the couch was more or less his limit. Feeling good now but still no sense of taste or smell. His partner is a chef so he’s ******.

He just turned 40, very healthy.
