People that get the most upset about vaccines seem to think in black and white. They see that they got infected and had few symptoms as proof it did not work (or was not required if they didn't do it). The reality is it's all about probabilities. Vaccine improved your odds of staying out of hospital. I'm not sure if that's still the case now that most of the population has been infected but past studies showed vaccine was more effective than a mild case and thankfully I don't know too many people that had really bad symptoms. Like most things, there is no way to prove whether the vaccine helped a specific individual or not as they are an n of one with no control case.Just checked in with a buddy. Unvaxxed, was wiped out for all of last week, going from bedroom to the couch was more or less his limit. Feeling good now but still no sense of taste or smell.
He just turned 40, very healthy.
I was talking with someone last week. Close relatives of theirs didn't believe in vaccine. Super healthy athletic 25 yo kid is on his ass with covid (a week in bed so far). Although he has tested positive, family still believes covid is a hoax and he has the flu. It's an interesting story but it would be pointless to try to have a meaningful debate with them.
