Tips for knocking down price? Buying a new bike.

Dealership seems a little scum to me especially since the bike isn't even delivered to the door yet.

Is the deposit usually refunded?

I'm telling the salesman that I'm no longer interested etc, he's scoffing and chuckling all the while saying maybe this bike isn't really for me if the insurance is that high (told him my father refuses to let me buy as a result of the insurance premiums) and since he can't refund, he kindly "suggests" that I look towards a Ninja 300 instead.

Following this thread with great interest. Not really seeing how the dealer is scum. Deposits are taken for a reason.

Tell him you will file a complaint with OMVIC if he does not refund our $
talk to the shop manager too

you owe me 10% of your refund now

You are higher than Rob Ford thinking you have legal recourse for getting a refund on your deposit.

As someone said earlier, providing a standard contract was signed, a deposit in NON-REFUNDABLE.

OP, try and speak to them about perhaps using the deposit towards gear/something else instead... I sincerely doubt they will give you back your $500.

If they're already not willing to refund the $500, what are the chances for they'll let me push the deposit I put in towards accessories or gear?

You have a better chance...

Dealer gets to move more product off the shelf...
They will sell the bike to someone else.. it's not going to sit on the floor forever...

Should I just go in and ask or wait till they contact me?

buy the 300 instead. The world needs a more deluded used 250/300cc market place in a year's time.

You already explained to the salesman that you can't afford the bike/insurance talk nicely, explain that you are still planning to buy a cheaper used bike and would like to apply the $500 or part of it towards the purchase of gear.

Yeah, I agree with the above.

The 300 is a sweet bike too.

They'll let you move the deposit to a different bike, unless they're complete scoundrels.

uhm, you are wrong but carry on it's entertainment

While we're still off topic, I will ask again:

Would someone kindly lend a hand on checking out a bike with me to give me an expert opinion?

You might get more offers of assistance if you filled in your location on your profile.

Talk to the manager and tell them that you want the deposit back. If they refuse tell them that you made a thread about the situation and will be posting the dealerships name here. 1,700 views right now, we can get this thread up to 20,000 views within a week. That's a lot of potential lost customers.

You're welcome ;)

I've updated my location so kind GTAMC members, please offer your hand if you are able to!

@Paul1000RR would that even work? I imagine the salesman would call the bluff.. Hahaha! I'm okay if they even give me in-store credit. Could buy boots, jacket and a shark helmet (I love modulars)

Where is the bike located that you want someone to look at?

I think I've got someone already, thanks though!

Also, im wondering if I should spill the beans on this dealer as I am now curious if others have experienced the shenanigans that I've dealt with.
