Maybe I'm just becoming racist?

I've lived in Markham for an odd 20ish years. When I first came here, my neighborhood was mainly Caucasian. People always said hi to each other, I used to play with dogs other ppl owned and had a small crush on some girl next door. When I turned 17, I started driving and noticed that ppl were generally nice. They let my n00b *** back out of my house, flashed/honked when cops were around, signaled, didn't run stop signs, and didn't kill people themselves on 407 and 9th line (or the intersection below that).

Off I went to Western for 3~ years, I come back and notice the new houses south and east of the 407 were complete. Suddenly the following things happened:

#1. People not signalling.
#2. Theft rates increased (south and east, my area is unaffected).
#3. My brother got knocked over riding a bicycle due to someone turning into him.
#4. Some ***** ran red and caused me to have an accident.

Then I found my current gf who lived a lil south of me (past 407 and 9th). I go to her house regularly and noticed that whenever I said hi to the neighbors there, they'd look at me as if I was trying to rob/kill them. But of course if one of their "kin" said hi, they'd say hi back.

I never worked at a restaurant but I have friends who do...and that's when the racist remarks start flying....

I'm 100% sure I am NOT the only person who feels this way, stereotypes and generalization happens for a reason.

Maybe the person you said hi too didn't say hi back because you might be a white male and they might be a little boy under the age of 10.

dammm those stereotypes and generalizations!

Does my forum nick make me look white? Unless you think I'm a weeaboo, which I am not lol

And don't get me wrong, I think Asian soccer moms can't drive either.

I'm not sure how that pertains to anything but it is interesting in it's own right.

Basically, strangers waved back when you were a kid and they now they just look at you weird. And back then you hardly ever noticed any poor driving but now that you drive, they all suck.

And for this, you want to burn them at the stake.

Interesting.

You missed the subtext that when he returned from university, all the new homes were finished and occupied by people that weren't there before he left. And those people were of a different ethnic background from the neighbours he grew up with.

you don't have to put in the "Asian" when referring the soccer mums can't drive...it's a general observation thing about those mums and their driving ability...

lol, i'm the whitest dude some folks on here know, i love hitting up p-mall, the driving there is not bad at all...this shows how accustomed i have come to the area, only been here just over a year too...i thought it was a nightmare of a place to visit when i lived out in 'sauga in comparison of driving styles...

its markham, the white ppl replaced with hk immigrants.

so he's asian hating on asian. CBC vs. Imports.

I can see that. Canadian Chinese don't always get along with the HKs.

Dude, I'm not referring to Asians when I'm talking about Markham; we're talking about 407 + 9th line, it has a context relation with ragu.

Also, I'm fob (fresh off the boat), came from Taiwan when I was 6.

I mean it can't just be a coincidence that we get a bunch of fatal accidents all of a sudden after the immigrants move in on 407 and 9th; especially when the ppl involved in the fatal accidents are always of the same ethic background?

I got no problem with HKs, Chinese, Russians (Russians are the best), Indians, or whatever, but some people just don't assimilate into Canadian culture very well and want the world to adapt to them...or they just go off scamming *cough*.

What if this scammer caused an accident which led to the endangering a family of 4 or some older folks? Would you say the same thing?
From what I see, this guy pulled out a gun in front of everyone on the highway.

In this day in age, crooks have to take into account the new technology. Obviously he didn’t think anyone would have a camera in the car or post videos on the internet. In his mind, that stuff hasn’t been invented yet. LOL!

hmmm...are you sure you "fully" support their actions...as much as the guy is a tool, 4chan has gone after his family, work place, and they sure as hell will go after friends if given the chance...talk about going for an area of effect on this guy, they're using a sledgehammer to hang a picture...

so wait, if you consider yourself fobbie, then you ain't assimilated into canadian life yet? and you've been here since 6...heck i wasn't born here but i consider myself canadian...unless my definition of fobbie is not correct...

I think my definition is different than others:

Asians use the term fob as somebody who's still stuck in their culture and not yet assimilated into new country's culture.
I use the term to associate with anyone that came, literally, fresh off the boat (or plane).

But yeah, I consider myself Canadian, and I sure as hell have more Canadian pride than I do of my Taiwanese origins.
