The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

That repair is probably 100k in the future. I wouldnt let that scare me away. Great bike. I wasn't sure how many km were on lightcycles when it needed surgery.

Looks like there are two R12GSes being referred to here.

@rhn's bike is 194,000 kms and @regder's one is 52,000 kms.

My bad. I didn't click the link. I was surprised that two gs's made this thread in close proximity. I like Redgers better. $5k for a 15 yo bike with 200k km seems steep to me.

That's not a good deal at all, I sold my 12-year old R12GS with 250,000 kms for $3000 CDN, after it was diagnosed with another (fourth) $1000 final drive diagnosis.

Somebody grab this before it's gone. Unfortunately I am not in a position to be able to do so currently.
Yeah, it mentions drop damage, check it out first. and yeah, we can lament/debate current value... but you're not going to find any others at this price point anymore.

Are they good bikes or just an iconic look? I wouldn't care about the drop as a rider but as a collectible the drop hurts a lot.

Having never ridden one, I can only relate what I read.
That first model year is massively uncomfortable, very leaned forward. It has the standard 1000DS engine, so fun, but not OMG powerful.
Soo..... just for the style/iconic feel and fun but brief rides.

Crazy how they were trying to give them away at the dealerships when they were new I could have had one for very cheap

Anybody need a cheap trailer?

$400 for that old thin wall U-rail CTC folder isn't that good of a deal TBH. Those things flex like a mofo if you don't add braces to them.

That they do. I’ve got one and it’s been awesome. But I also have new plywood and metal sheeting on it so it’s been great so far.

I got my money out of it when I bought it for $650.

Used to be $200USD ar Harbor Freight. Now good luck finding a new one for that price.

Holy. I bought mine for, ya I want to say $195-245, something like that, maybe 8 years ago...

Price now

Then again, the never buy regular price at Harbor Freight rule applies... I'm sure it's half price a handful of times a year.

$400 bought me a used HD trailer. Removed the sides, replaced the plywood with Spruce ($80). Mounted my bike rail off my old trailer, Bob’s yer uncle. $400 for one of those CTC flexy-flyers is stupid.

Ok, so where can I find a decent folding trailer. The only place I have found is diyfoldingtrailers.com

I have seen nothing worthwhile on Kijiji (dont have FB). It has to fold to fit into the garage, no other place to store it.

I have one of those. The caster wheels are pretty lousy. Broke one the second time I used it.

It folds up nicely enough. There are 4 carriage bolts that need to be installed/removed each time which is a bit of a pain considering their location, but all in all not bad. I used T-nuts to mount wheel chocks in 3 positions. Left, Middle, Right. If one bike, use the middle. If 2 bikes, use left and right.

I have the HF version. The caster system does suck but mine is still working ok after more than a decade.

I rarely put more than one carriage bolt in. The load keeps the trailer from bouncing up and folding. If I know I am going to load it heavy, I will put in more than one bolt.

I’ve met the people that sell the diyfoldingtrailers and they’re very nice. I’ve been buying the accessories for my trailer from them.

Unfortunately you need to keep an eye out and be ready to snap it up as they go fast.

As for the casters…garbage. But mine are still working. I only fold it up for the winter.

Lucky you...
I live in a townhouse and don't have the space to leave the trailer unfolded. Can't get it to the back yard either due to neighbour's trees and stuff.

Yes for sure. There’s only a few things Kevin did right…expanding the driveway was one of them.

As for the trailer, only reason it sits up front is because with my Reno I need to haul something fairly regularly. Once this is done, it’s being hidden away in the back to keep it out of sight and out of mind.
