The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

Who's old enough to remember when FOX body Mustangs came out?
My neighbour wanted one, but insurance was stupid. He got a quote on a Capri (the first couple of years of Fox bodies, they had a Capri, that was a re-branded Mustang. EXACTLY the same car, save the name plate). The insurance was a fifth of the Mustang.
The difference was: 18yr old squids weren't buying, and immediately crashing, Capri's.

all about statistics
run the numbers
and make them pay
VFR riders were hitting the deck and insurance had to pay for the rider, the bike, the hard and top cases and all the farkles
BMW and Harleys d

I'm going to quote a recent post from another member here.

Insurance companies don't look at riding experience as much as they do age and overall driving record. Few (if any) in Ontario have actuaries looking at their motorcycle business. They have actuarial data on age/sex/driving record/and type of vehicle from their automobile actuaries -and they share a list of bikes that are arbitrarily classified into categories -- there is no risk calculation done. They can't actually tell you whether an R6 is more dangerous than a TW200., or an M2 19year old is riskier than an M2 55 year old.

Old GF had a Capri RS Turbo. Almost as quick as a 5.0 with better suspension (and subsequently handling). It was the Fox sleeper.

A friend had one of the SVO Mustangs. Same motor as the Capri RS and the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Ended up taking out a light pole on the Niagara Parkway in it.

They're kinda similar, but no where near EXACTLY the same.
Fords & Mercurys shared as many parts as they didn't.
Try fitting a Mustang window wiper motor on a Capri, or vise versa.
There's numerous more.

Capri not a Mustang at all tho filled similar role to the pony car. I really enjoyed mine.
Apparently the designer worked on both.

I scared the hell out of my uni buddy doing the twists near the escarpment. I did not have the twin turbo.
Just the plain jane. That car was the base caused of my sciatica - I put thousands of KM on it doing sales calls around the province. Ford Capri - Wikipedia

RD400 era -had a lot of adventures in both including a near miss of a tornado on the RD and a crazy ride in the dark down 144 ghosting another car ....blown fuse - on the RD - nothing other than one turn signal - guy I was ghosting behind must have wondered what this bobbing orange light in his rear view was.

144 was quite new then and zilch in the way of stops or street lights until Sudbury.

Just to be clear the wiki page talks about the FORD Capri built in UK and Germany (like mine was)

The second gen MERCURY Capri was based on the Fox body Mustang
