I miss the old Timex commercials. The one I remember very specifically was when they strapped one to the blade of an outboard motor.."takes licking and keeps on ticking".
Our Deepwater Tiburón Automatic has an elevated look meticulously designed with nautical influence at the helm. We graced the dial and strap with the brilliant red Diver Down Flag and built this watch with a shock- and corrosion-resistant stainless-steel case with ceramic lunette and a...
Neither. Indigo is luminous phosphorus laminated in between 2 ultra thin glass panes. I worked on that patent, it was based on the same technology that caused a CRT display (old style tv) to light a pixel.

I have some connections. My dad was an exec at that company for 30+ years. As a young techie I got to work as an outside advisor or tester on Indiglo, Ironman, Beepwear, Sinclair, and a bunch of military, LORAN, and GPS navigation stuff.

There were ironmans pre-indiglo and said light on them (~1986-1992). Indiglo came in early 90's. The indiglo watches normally have branding on the face and band and have indiglo instead of light by the pusher.
Here is the old school light but not on an ironman from an ad near the beginning of indiglo roll out.

I can confirm this, I had a similar Iron Man as a kid in the '80s or early-'90s. The light was in the corner, was a yellowish orange, and instead of the whole face illuminating, it was obviously brighter in that corner and harder to read further away. You often had to angle the face to be able to read it. It was also supposedly hard on the battery, so I was always super careful to use it as sparingly as possible. According to the Timex webpage, Indiglo came out in '92, and the Ironman was released in '86.

That's the watch I have. I had the case velcro mounted on a bracket on the bars on my KTMs for backup to the ICO for years. It says light on the face but it's indiglo. It's still on the bracket in a box in the garage. Which of the hundred odd boxes is the crux.
He doesn't work on movements as complex as that IWC, but he does a lot of cool vintage watches, and has a very chill patter to go along with the work that is very relaxing to view.
