I used to until I got one. Its functionally very useful, especially for us old guys, and I use it quite often.
I never use the complication. Only time I look at the date on a watch is the day after the 30th.

If I could walk in and buy one at MSRP I would buy one tomorrow. Not interested in overpaying for usedAgreed. MSRP I'd pick one up today. Only Rolex I'd be interested in owning. 12k for a mint one is basically msrp plus tax. Last time I looked msrp was $10500. 12k would be hard to find if not impossible.
That's what I did, as a birthday present to myself. I just walked in wearing my usual T shirt and jeans and running shoes, and my beat up Heuer 1000. To choose from, on the table in front of me I had a Submariner (no date), a Sea Dweller (no cyclops), a Submariner Date, a Submariner Date LV (50th Anniversary, green bezel) and a Deep Sea Sea Dweller. I chose the LV and got a discount off MSRP.If I could walk in and buy one at MSRP I would buy one tomorrow.
Scratch and dent Citizen sale in TO. [Citizen] GTA: Citizen Watch warehouse sale - RedFlagDeals.com Forums
Apparently not just Citizen watches, Alpina automatics and Bulovas etc. Some good deals to be found apparently.
On-site only. No online. Wouldn’t mind a Blue Angel or Titanium Skyhawk. If the price was right.
That’s pretty cheap. They actually have a Snowbirds version. First I’d heard of it.The Blue Angels AT were going for $250 I think I read. Maybe less. I looked for an online source and they only ever seem to have these sales in Toronto sadly.

Caravelle is <$100 new. 99% chance it has a press back and just needs a battery (assuming it hasn't been flooded). So I have a one of my Dad's old watches in a drawer. It's a Caravelle with no band. Not sure if the original finish was polished brass or chrome but most of it has worn off and it's mostly raw brass. It shows the date and has "electric" and "waterproof"on the dial.
Was wondering whether it's worth taking it in to get it working. It has only sentimental value - no real interest in it's monetary value. I never wear a watch but it might be cool to know it still works. Thoughts?

I had an old Caravelle automatic, I think it is the poor cousin of Bulova. A battery will confirm if the electrics work or have been fubared. Sentimental watches are the best reason to wear them, even if only on special occasions. Good luckSo I have a one of my Dad's old watches in a drawer. It's a Caravelle with no band. Different times. That doesn't happen anymore.Humbertown Jewellers. 2008.
Awesome history. That is great that you brought it back to working condition. Thanks for reposting the story. The back is more interesting than the front. I've posted this on this site before. The dents and nicks are from when he wiped out his 1949 Ariel Square Four, and the watch flew off his wrist and got run over by a car. After that it sat in a drawer for over 50 years until I had it fixed.
