The Official Ongoing Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread

haha... Not yet. I'm going to route a power port to the front of my bike so I can use my gps though. I used to ride those roads a lot 10 years ago. I made a big Google Maps route the other day and studied it like crazy. I'll PM the route to you guys. I surprised myself and actually stayed on course until Orangeville where we decided to change the plan, otherwise we would have been an hour later getting home.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Thanks for the route Dave, looks like a nice ride you guys had. Good weather for it. I was suckered into moving my dad's furnace out of the basement.

Hey Jeff, out off curiosity...how many km do you get to a tank??

On the ride on yesterays tank I got 240km before the lights came on, On average I get about 220km.

Also Dan, If you are doing chain and sprockets anytime soon, I have a 15 tooth (-1) front sprocket if you can put it to use.
If not I will just throw it on Kijiji.

Ok, about the same as me then...

I have a 15 tooth right now and not sure what I will do when I have to change...but thanks for the offer.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

How you doing the fairings? I'm in the middle of repainting the fairings on my track bike - using Duplicolor rattle cans. Most of the fairings are done, but I think I'm going to paint on the numbers by hand instead of doing the vinyl cutouts etc. Did some Bondo work - it's not professional level, but it's a giant leap forward in how the bike was from when I got it. Still have to strip down the tank and go from scratch on it. Trying to find some "SprayMax 2K Clear" rattle cans -- it's a 2 part clear coat in a can that won't run if fuel spills....

Im paying to have them done. Im getting some quotes by taking in the parts to the shops. Any one had any experince with MACO? I have heard mixed reviews but the price seems right.

Do you have a speedohealer on yours?
Whats your highway rpm's? Mine are 20km/hr per 1k rpm's, So at 100km/hr I'm at 5,000rpm.
I was thinking of dropping the tooth or doing the -1/+2 but my bike is a commuter I didn't think it was the best idea.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Very intresting i have 22 litre tank and get around 280 -300 before i turn on the reserve ..as far as hwy rpm's at 100 kph i am at 4400 rpm's //sprockets
/...17 front and 44 rear

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

On my 929 I have -1 front +2 rear, and I'm turning 5000rpm at 125km/h indicated (no speedo healer yet). I think that's about 108km/h. Not sure though... my gearing chart is at home. Jeff, when we were cruising home on Sunday what was your indicated speed for the most part? I think I was keeping mine around the 125 mark most of the way home (on the straight boring roads).

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Wow those bikes are screamers I am turning 2900 rpm at 110.

Yeah, my bike is a riot in the lower gears and much better around town with the -1/+2 gearing but I'm starting to dislike it on the highway.

To be honest, I hardly ever look at the speedometer lol.

If you want next time we ride I can hook up the GPS and get your actual speed vs indicated?

I have never really noticed what my highway rpm's are. I will have a peak next time I'm out. All I know is the speedo shows roughly 10% faster then what I am really going.

Maybe I can get my GPS going too and we can compare to see if they're even trustworthy.

So does that mean your odometer adding 10% more on as well?
Did you have stock gearing on before? Does it really give it more kick with just a tooth down?

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Seems like I made a pretty good guess. According to my gearing chart, at 5000 RPM my bike should be going 108.8km/h. So, indicating 125 that puts it 15% high. The gearing chart says it should be 11.6% higher than stock, so there's 3.4% error on the bike to begin with.

Yeah the factory offset is about 4% from what I have heard everywhere.

And your trying to say a 929 with -1/+2 isn't a wheelie machine? lol

Umm...roughly 10% more then the factory setting of the odometer. So, yes....??

I got the bike with -1, so I can't tell ya the difference.

FYI, when I did -1f on my '99 F4 it was a pretty nice difference. -1f/+2r was even better ;) The 520 chain and aluminum rear sprocket is good too for spinning mass reduction.

Could you see me on Sunday? ;) Yeah, it's not crazy crazy, but it wheelies without much effort in 2nd gear and a bit of effort in 3rd. It's good. haha...
