The Official Ongoing Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I'd be in for a pair of the H4 hi/lo beams. (Dual headlights in the Kat)
I'm not familiar with the numbers and what colors they are, but I'd be looking for light that is mostly white with a slight shade of blue.
I looked on the website and I think they were around $45ish per unit.

I think the H4 are $45 and for the Hi/Lo's they are an extra $20?
But you would probably want the 6000k, I have the 8000k's and if I had to get them again I would probably go with the 6000k.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Watch out putting them on the cat from what i understand they are dufficult to install with the stock reflector and still have them allign correctly. I would love them on my cat as well but I dont think i could install them. Lots of write up on Kat riders forums on them though

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

It really shouldn't be very hard to install an HID kit. Just make sure you order the right bulb size and they should slip right in to the OEM socket.
The wiring is plug and play as well - just need to find a spot to hide the ballasts. May need to cut a hole in the rubber boot that goes over the back of the lens reflector where the bulb fits depending on what the original bulb looks like.

If you got them I could always give you a hand putting them in. As stated the hardest part is finding a spot for the ballast.
I have put them in all my vehicles and never ran into any problems.

Thanks for the offer the Katana standard bulbs are

USA: DUAL 55/60 Watt H4 BULB
(H4 is also known as 9002).
Can take HB2 bulbs, which are the same as H4/9002, but built to a higher focus accuracy.

So im guessing the H4 Hi lows are whats needed?

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Make sure that the stock bulbs don't actually change brightness when switching to high-beams. Most bikes just turn on an additional light when you turn the high's on. Order accordingly.

The DUAL 55/60 Watt H4 BULB is one bulb with a dual filament.
The H4 Hi/Lo's from ddmtuning will be the same except they use magnetic telescoping bulbs which when you turn on your high beams the bulb will move inward changing the beam pattern.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I've been doing some reading on HID vs halogen and it seems like at 35W the HID's are 3 times brighter than halogen! Woo! I'm excited to see how awesome night riding will be with 145W of HID :)

Well, Bab's has 2x55w HID's on all the time... super nice at night.. flick on the high beams and 2x35w HID's go on. Takes about 20 seconds for them to achieve full brightness, but then she's at 180w HID full illumination. Can see clear from here to Parry Sound....

LOL That's awesome! 2 55W's on all the time is insane! I guess I shouldn't worry at all about heat with the giant 929 headlight box. Man, if we went on a night ride with one of us leading and one of us sweeping then nobody else would need lights. haha

180W holly hell! That would keep you warm on days like today! LOL

Don't get the High beams on all that often though... put them on once and pulled up next to a friend's GSX-R1000.. completely washed his headlights out... made me laugh... just like when a guy with some cheapy after market exhaust on a 250 or 500 pulls up beside me at a light and revs his bike up trying to get noticed... everyone here on this forum has heard Babs - she's a noisy little beast... hehehe...

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I know most of you work during the week, but I thought I'd throw this out here anyway.

Tuesday October 25. Leave Guelph area around 10:00, meet up with a couple more people in the Milton area for 10:30 and head to the Anchor Bar ( http://www.anchorbar.com/ ) for lunch.

Kewl...im actually on holidays that week i think ...if i am ..sign me up ..as long as the weather is ok

Just bringing this back from a couple of pages ago....
Tuesday is looking like it'll be a nice day (a little cold though....) so if anyone wants to come along you're more than welcome.
The timing has been adjusted slightly. I'm now meeting a couple of people in Burlington for 10:00-10:15, so that means leaving the Guelph area by 9:00ish.
Any takers?

edit: Oh ya, and we're probably not going to the Anchor Bar..... One of the other people going is picking the place for lunch. All I know is it's somewhere near Buffalo.....which means we will be crossing the border.
