The Official Ongoing Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I'm looking to get out for a group ride sometime... anyone know of any show and shine or rides around cambridge?

Don't know about Cambridge...
BUT, the weather on Thursday is supposed to be nice.
So, 6:30pm, Tim Horton's at corner of University and Bridge Street. Head out at 6:45. Route / Leader to be determined.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I might be in for Thursday, don't know yet.

Did anyone else see the funnel cloud at about 6:45 west of Kitchener tonight? Freaky... I got some pictures of it, not great though. Never seen anything like it.

I think me and my buddy are down for a ride this Thursday. We will meet whoever shows up at bridge and University

When I was 4 we had an 300m wide F4 (300-400km/hr winds) Tornado pass about 400m from my house. Destroyed Barrie, There was a gas pump in my neighbours roof and there wasnt a gas station within maybe 5km. Ripped out the highway guardrails, It was one of the biggest in Ontario.

The Royal Distributing bike night only happens in June and July....they're done for this year.

As for thursday, I'll be up in Midland but I might make it back in time. It'll be a last minute decision.

Crazy... that must have been pretty scary. On the weather network this morning they were talking about the funnel cloud saying it was no big deal, and there must have been just enough rotation to form a funnel. Ya think? Idiots... They said the skies were clear when it formed. Uhh, huh. I think they just had no idea so they're downplaying it. They said it had no chance to touch down but it was 2/3's of the way to the ground at one point. Oh well. Looked cool anyway.

I'll be in for Thursday if I get a chance to get out for a bicycle ride tonight or tomorrow night. I've decided that the only way I'll be able to fit in my leathers better is to actually exercise (big revelation) so I'm forcing myself to earn the motorcycle rides. haha...

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Ok- I can do the 26th and 8th at GB. I'm easy either way. Let's get a consensus, then we can figure out our transportation issues. Picked up a new helmet and back protector - so I'm ready for SMP too. Just let me know when.

So, is everyone else okay with a Friday 26th track day? It's a great way to start the weekend. haha...

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Might be available Thursday assuming I get my bike back from the shop that day.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I should be good Thursday too. Dave - you ever been on the paved trail by rim park? Follows the grand river and circles around grey silo golf course?

That's a great place to rollerblade. I usually blade there, do the trail and blade home. 16km or so round trip.

I've only ever been over there when golfing. Very beautiful course. It will be on the LPGA next year. My Mom is pretty excited because I took here there a few years back so now she can say she played an LPGA course. haha...

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Ok... Friday the 26th is cool. Who's in....

Off work at 12:30, so I'm thinking about spanking Babs down there to get some photos of the riders... may see if the bosses will let me do an hour or 2 of flex time to leave earlier...

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Tomorrow I'll shift my vacation day to the 26th instead of 25th. :) I won't be signing up until the week of the track day though in case the weather is crap.

Well there is a nice paved trail at the end of Grand River Dr for biking. You can see it on google maps if your interested. For exercise it is a great riding trail, but if your more into rougher terrain this isn't for you. It has two way traffic lanes and plenty of nice rest stops.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

It sounds like something I would take my road bike on, and then I'd likely be going too fast for such a path. For mountain biking I usually keep it in the woods, or ride from home to the woods.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

That guy with the GSXr is not replying to my emails :(

Still on the hunt. lol

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

26th it is and I need that trailer space with you Dave. I can pull the trailer down if you want.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

It's okay Steve, I'll drive with my van. It's nice to have all the space in the van.

Nick, you mentioned that you have a friend with a 2 bike trailer, would you have access to it for the 26th?

They yell at you if you take a road bike there I tried explaining it was only a 250 but people still complain J/K

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

LOL... speaking of 250, which bike are you bringing to the track?
