The Official Ongoing Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Tim, sorry to hear your bike is causing you grief... I hate that. That was part of the reason that I sold my Aprilia Tuono last year. I couldn't trust that it wouldn't leave me stranded. Time for the Diavel? ;)

If i could afford the Diavel right now, it would be in my garage! Never knew you had a Tuono - was looking at an RSVR Factory to replace the Buell actually... may hold off on that idea (mechanic I trust implicitly told me about brake fluid issues (have to replace several times a year to be safe etc)). When Babs (Bad As* Bit**) runs, she's like a siren to me, calling me - begging for a ride, distracting me at work, then grabbing hold and ripping me all to pieces! Love it! But, when she's being a pain, egads... the parts lead time is absolutely miserable (average 4-6 weeks for just about anything beyond nuts and bolts (which are 2 weeks minimum - Torx with funky threads)).

Not sure if this will help but there's a Harley Dealership at the Gap if you need parts while your down there.

Thanks for the info, but that won't help, unless they're also a Buell dealer (which is unlikely (without looking it up of course)). Even if they were, they typically don't carry any parts in stock and order everything as necessary.

Later!

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Just wondering if the 6:30 @ University & Bridge is still on for tomorrow.

I'm down to ride if anyone else is.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

AAARRRGGHHHH!!!!!!!! INSERT LONG STRING OF OBSCENITIES HERE!!!!!!

Just got word from the dealership... parts will take AT LEAST 2 WEEKS to arrive....
So, I'm down a bike... and I don't have a second bike either...
Unless I can find a rental very shortly, I'm not only down my ride for X weeks, I'm out my vacation to the Dragon as well.... &^)$^(%@&@!

Dude, that really blows goats.

Check this out.. http://gtaexotics.ca/dev/motorcycles.html
You can rent a bike... or a lambo may be cool at the gap too.

Dude, don't get an RSVR. Kickass bikes, sure, but all the same electrical issues that I ran into with my Tuono.

That's horrible news about your bike being down for 2 weeks... hope you can find something to get to The Dragon with!

Maybe you can call them, explain that you'll be heading down there, and see if they can get the parts sooner than we can up here. I'd bet they can get it in 2 days instead of 2 weeks. There has to be a Buell dealer someone not too far from there...

Nope.... trip is cancelled... several months of planning shot.
called the dealership again, they claim the entire kit installed 6 weeks ago failed.. .I call Bullsh*t. Can't be the external cover and internal piston. Sleeve and seals only. They stuck to their guns though and claimed it needed a whole new kit. They say 2+ weeks for parts. Last time it was 6 weeks (ACK!!!)

Parts kit is not available in all of Canada. They *may* have parts somewhere in the USA, but the warranty issue is in play -- you buy a US vehicle, you can't get warranty work done here (unless you're a US citizen and the vehicle breaks down while in Canada), take a Canadian bike to the US, and the same warranty clause applies. You can't get it fixed there, unless it breaks down there. *sigh*

So, I'm out my bike.. checked online for rentals, and there was one lousy, crummy HD available. Not something I'm interested in shelling out $180 a day for.

Babs (my bike - short for Bad As* Bit**) has been good to me all in all... but this parts delay is ridiculous. Oh well... hopefully the delay is minimal (the 2 weeks they are claiming) and I'll be back again soon. Most disappointing for sure.

Sorry 'bout your luck Tim - that's a huge sack 'o suck, but don't throw in the towel just yet.
You can rent a sport bike here:

http://www.wheelersperformance.com/

Call and check what's available. Dust off the passport & have a good time.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

That really really sucks Tim!

No more soccer Thursday nights so I should be able to get out all the time now.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Looked into 3 different places for a rental, and they either had some POS Harley, nothing at all, or a beat up GS500 left... and the cheapest was $135 per day. Not going to spend that on a bike I won't enjoy riding.

I'll wait until next year and plan the trip again - have 3 other people very interested already, and one has an enclosed trailer than can take 6 bikes. Might end up renting a cabin at the Fontana Village instead of hotel rooms.

SpyRadar and his buddy Brad left last night at about 9pm and were driving through the night. Helped them load up, which hurt my feelings even more.. :-(

Oh well...

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Had a peekaboo at an Aprilia RSV4 today.... a little spendy, but less than an RC8, and the same as an 848 Dark....

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Nope... saw that ad earlier -friend of mine bought a GSX-R1000 from the same guy.
Bike showing is a RSVR Factory (v twin), not the v4. To get the new V4 it's $3500 more, and comes with 2 year warranty, which is something I'd like for sure.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I'm thinking about getting a CBR929 again and turning it into a sport tourer with a handle bar kit, touring seat and Ventura rack. My SV is just too painful on the street. I rode my friends SV with a handle bar kit and wow, what a difference! Felt like a totally different bike.

My bad...you are correct. Only paid attention to the rsv part.
