"The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

The Beer Store is run by three conglomerates who are all foreign owned so any profits from the operations are leaving the country.

Also the post was saying money being funneled out. So if your not buying from a Canadian company that has product made only in Canada then you should go after those companies as well

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

Sure it a monopoly but can you buy beer at Brewers? Lcbo? I thought monopoly meant only one place

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

This dude still doesn't get the monopoly part of the equation. :lmao: all those decades working retail, I guess

No. It means there's a single entity which controls the market. In this case it's collusion between our government and the conglomerate of foreign brewers behind Brewers Retail Inc... the people you wasted your life working for. Remember?

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

I have never said the money never left I said the beer store doesn't make profit.

My point is not all companies are Canadian owned anymore and the money does in fact stay in Canada thru the pay the workers get but alot more goes out not just the beer store

The point sailed so far over your head you didn't even see it.

Sure if I had listened to anything you said I'd never have a job or be as good as you.

Must be nice to know everything

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

Trust me when I say this beer store makes a profit. If not it not generating profit directly, it's operating as a loss leader. No company or individual in their right mind would keep something going for so long if they didn't make profit or the loss that it generated created profits through other revenue streams. I own my own businesses and you're dumb as mud if you think anyone would keep things going in a foreign land operating at a loss. I have no words for your stupidity good sir.

It is a monopoly if you want anything other than a 6 pack. Want a 12, 18, or 24 pack with the corresponding discount in price and The Beer Store is the only game in town. I would rather see beer and spirits sold in corner stores and retail outlets like Quebec but I may never see that in my lifetime.

If we are going to stay with the Brewer's Retail/The Beer Store model I would rather it be a Crown entity. That way the profits would go into the Provincial coffers AND the employees would likely have better pay and likely a nice pension plus benefits. Although I am no fan of the LCBO at least it is profitable for the government and it provides good jobs for the people who work there.

Doesn't the Beer Store pay well anymore? I remember these were prized jobs, people would invest years in the casual part time to part time to full time path to riches. The guy at the Beer Store was a king maker. Your weekend blitz depended on his co-operation.

Maybe before the brewers sold out?

Again let's wait and see what happens with lawsuit and what you will see.
Call me names call me stupid whatever makes you feel good but at end of the day I'll wait and see what comes of the lawsuit.

To your point about good job used to be great then the 3 breweries changed hands so did the work. Less full time more work less pay and a do it or else attitude.

The stores lose some money but at end of day the breweries still make a ton as I stated in that 800 million operating cost the loss is factored in and adjusted. Do the math if you lose 1 to 2% loss in retail your way ahead then most business loss so the breweries don't lose money and if a beer store has huge losses they will hunt down the thief and also beef up the hidden camera's to put a end to it.

Believe what you think.

I'll wait to see what happens with lawsuits and see if your man enough to admit if and when your proven wrong.

Ok here you go when we get beer in the breweries count it ad sold. So using Canadian 24 bottles right now at $33.95 a case that's what we pay for it and and sell it for so how do we make profit? Every Beer is the same thing we pay what you pay nothing added so how does the beer store make profit?

That is a fact as I see the way bill for every load of beer that comes in and the total cost is at the bottom of the bill and if you divide by cost of each case it equals exact cost.

I'm out of this thread now as it's not worth my time anymore.

If you buy at breweries you pay same cost as beer store so that is another fact.

I don't understand what you are saying... Go sign up for a finance course at a local university. I'll pay for it. Let's have this chat again in 6 months when we can understand you.

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

Maybe the thread took a turn for the worse... :p

Well, it's not that I want free beer... I just don't want to get gouged when I buy beer.

Remember... (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)... with cheap beer.

Waybills aren't invoices.

I think they show the retail value of the products not the invoice pricing. Can you scan and upload some monthly invoices to show us what TBS actually pays for beer?

Serious question for Irocian,

With your experience working for the Beer Store, why not make an attempt to work at the LCBO? Sounds like it's an overall better gig and you'll have the experience that will give you an 'in'.

Then how do you pay your operating cost (fixed and flexible)?
