The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

It doesn't mention in the CTV article the crash was in June and the bus driver was just charged last Thursday.

And anything north of the airport is Brampton. I don't care who drew what imaginary line where.

Most of the gta feels like Brampton lately.

Mind boggling how many dump trucks drive down the road with stones/gravel/dirt right up against/falling off the top side rail. One of the easiest things driver can check or jump up there with a shovel and do a quick sweep to push loose stones away from the edge. %99 of them don't take the time to do this. One of the most basic parts of their job. Have emailed many companies asking to remind their drivers to sweep rails of loose stones.

Two weeks of driving all around the Puget Sound area, from Ballard to Port Townsend, and not a single rock hit the rental. Not even when I was driving directly behind dump trucks. I can't go a single day in the GTA without hearing something prang off my car.

You're right; it's usually operation without due care and attention. Police must know something that hasn't been released, if they felt that a dangerous operation charge was warranted. They think that the driver was doing something beyond simple negligence, such as purposely ramming the other vehicles. Dangerous operation causing death can be a life sentence.

EDIT - Happened right in front of the Wendy's/Tim Horton's.
Deja vu? Did this just happen? For some reason I reminds me of a similar event in the GTA.

Re the DD charge, does the severity put gag orders in place until all the parties get their stories and excuses together?

Also it's easier to lower a charge than raise it.

The public will be appeased by the severity and it won't be noticed by most when it is dropped to careless way down the road. Was there a dust up on the bus that distracted the driver?

I am no longer surprised at the behavior of people.

See post 5641 it's the same crash. No Deja vu

I saw the same thing yesterday but not quite as blatant. Bloor St west bound at Golden Orchard.

I was stopped at a red with one car in front of me. I think he watched the amber come on for the cross traffic and went through the delayed red, probably saved himself five seconds.

Later I came out of a Timmies near Dundas & Hurontario. A woman in a wheelchair was almost hit by a guy zipping along the sidewalk on a bicycle.

Have a nice day

Its funny to see the person with the dash cam still catch up to the truck despite it running red lights.

That's often the way it works. I used to pull up beside and fold the passenger side outside mirror back but I stopped it when I started hearing about people being shot at from moving cars.

It is brampton and an edited video. Maybe the camera car ran reds too? The quest for social media likes has almost no limits.

Happened again last night. Someone got shot on Gardiner and drove themselves to St Mikes.

It's amazing what you can achieve with superior knowledge of traffic patterns. I had a guy aggressively pass me on the Gardiner. Cut me off hard. He was doing at least 30 over, any time that he could. I passed him on the ramp to 427, while he was stuck in stalled traffic. He passed me again on 427, south of 401. I passed him on the ramp to 401. we passed each other, again, maybe 3 times between Airport and Finch, along the 427. Then again a couple of times along Steeles. He kept going on Steeles and I split off on Torbram, to Balmoral. I passed him again while he was stuck at the light on Bramalea Rd., at Balmoral. He recognized my car and started pounding on the steering wheel, out of frustration. Bliss. I never went more than 10 over at any time.

HINT: The right lane is frequently the real passing lane ;)

Impaired single vehicle crash. Police have impounded the car for seven days to make sure it isn't driven. That seems beyond dumb in this case.

It's retributive. He'll have to pay the impound fee, on top of whatever he gets hit with. Insurance won't cover that.

I still hate it. Drunk drivers can go to hell but penalties should be after conviction. I have no problem with huge penalties once the crown has been able to get a JP beyond reasonable doubt.

Impaired driving is one of the very few things that I think warrant punishment, of a sort, prior to conviction. Impaired drivers are demonstrably not in any condition to be handed back a vehicle when they are stopped. They famously don't learn from being caught. The worst of them don't care, at all, about the sanctions that have already been placed against them and they continue to drive afterwards.

By comparison someone who has been caught while "stunt driving" (speeding) is already no longer speeding.
