Caledon opp ticketd a group of cyclists for going through a stop sign in a community safety zone. $180 tickets

Four way stop sign. The likelihood of there being a collision there is statistically slightly above zero.

Although some of the dumb cyclists did roll the stop sign with a cop car driving up to the sign and then looked startled. They were mentally primed to go through without stopping regardless of any cross-traffic. Hell, cop didn't stop at the stop sign, they slowed down and then went. The number of OPP tweets that show them actively breaking HTA laws without justification is surprisingly high.

Bicycles also have to follow the rules of the road, and the HTA... Blowing stop signs is very common around Niagara region; as every time 3 or more of these weekend warriors go out together, they think they're riding the Tour de France, and have penultimate rights to the road.

But they're professionals.

As a former driver of the big red truck with flashy lights - the public's ability to do absolutely brain-dead things when they see an emergency vehicle is without limit... I've had cars stop dead in the middle of the road; pull left out of a line of traffic. I've had vehicles try to outrun me; had vehicles drop behind me and follow; often at great speed and far too close.

Cop rear ending a bus looks bad; absolutely - but the possibility of the bus stopping dead or even backing up into the cruiser is very real, and surprisingly more common than you'd think.

I agree drivers are brain dead. IIRC, that cop rear-ended the bus while it was stopped with its lights on. Cops at the scene did cop things and got really mad at bystanders taking pictures and threatened arrest. Overall a bad look.

1000% true

I spend at least 1 night a week standing at Richmond & Bay..that intersection is a clown show to begin with. I've seen cars on top of cars, cars rolled over but my favourite is the emergency vehicles for sure.

I once saw an ambulance blocked from travelling west on Richmond because drivers in all 3 lanes refused to give way, one even gave them the finger when they blared the siren.

Entertainment value is unparallel.

It was a few years ago in K-W. Eyewitnesses said the cop was on his phone when he smashed into the school bus. But they're legally allowed to do that, because professionals.

Here's a good one. "I got a text from a *****other officer."

Twitter now requires an account to see posts, so no idea what that's about.

It's to do with Google scraping the entire internet including Twitter for ChatGPT and Elon not liking it

And Elon breaking the Twitter landing page for something like 12 hours, because of his tantrum. If he knew how that crap actually worked, he'd not have bothered. Likely had a million new subs from a couple of IP addresses, just so the scraping could continue.

And he should pay his damned bills.

Honestly, more cyclists should be ticketed for flouting the law.

The optics are terrible. Which would be more beneficial to the residents of Caledon? A cop parked on a (relatively) traffic free residential side street to poach some cyclists or cops/MTO parked on Hwy. 10 pulling over SCUD missiles disguised as dump trucks pulling licenses, registrations, and impounding unfit vehicles? It's pretty obvious what's the easiest of the two. The harder one has FAR more potential to mitigate damage/injury/deaths.

New accounts are limited to viewing 500 tweets a day. There are about 500M tweets per day. I suspect it wouldn't be too hard to identify 1M new accounts that all looked at mutually exclusive content (or 2M new accounts that had some overlap so it was harder to identify daily but easier to identify at creation). That assumes that all previous tweets have been scraped and they aren't trying to make up ground which could require millions more accounts.

It also assumes that they want to scrape literally all of the tweets, which is rather unlikely. Hell, if they did, then they'd also be scraping a rather large number of bot tweets, that don't serve any of their purposes. Something like a quarter of all content on Twitter is created by bots, from recent estimates.

It would be pretty sad if google could identify and ignore the bots while twitter says they can't. Hell, maybe the bots are the scraping team and by generating "content" they hope they will be left alone.
