Yesterday, in Whitby:

Lots of openings for school bus drivers and crossing guards if people are interested.

Another dip^(*&^ that should never drive again. Bonus points for police doing nothing again. At the very least failure to remain is reasonable. It's hard to argue that a careless charge isn't also justified. Laying no charges is super suspicious. Who was this twit?

It came March 3 at around 8:30 a.m., when she received a barrage of phone calls first from the owner of the neighbouring business, and then from her security company.

When she checked her store, a Woodbridge bakery called Guilty Pleasurez, on Marycroft Avenue, what she saw stunned her — a Jeep Cherokee that was sitting in the front of her shop.

That image, though, wouldn't end up being the biggest shock of the day. When her husband and brother showed up to the location, they discovered that no one had yet contacted police.

After calling police, a man showed up at the bakery suggesting he was the husband of the woman who crashed the vehicle before getting in the vehicle, backing it out of the store and driving off.

Before he left, though, he advised Bawa's husband that his wife was in the nail salon getting her nails done.

When Bawa's husband went to check on the woman's safety, she giggled and said she was fine.

"She was left with pretty nails while I was left with a sh**show," Bawa said.

When Bawa spoke to the owner of the nail salon, the owner said she was badly shaken up when the incident happened and tried to reschedule the nail appointment with the woman, but the woman was adamant.

Bawa said the salon owner told her the woman wanted her nails done right then and there, as she had to attend a party the next day.

Police told Bawa the woman, who claimed she pressed the gas instead of the brake, will not be charged.

Wow. So bad at driving that they are being held in custody until they can have a bail hearing.

The suspect was initially charged back in April, 2022 with operation while impaired and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.

Police say that he was under “two separate driving related prohibitions” when he was pulled over by 11 Division officers on March 3 and charged with dangerous operation.

He was released on a court order with additional driving-related conditions but just fours days later on March 7, members of the Peel Regional Police Safer Roads Team allegedly spotted him “operating a motor vehicle dangerously” somewhere in the Region of Peel.

The suspect, identified as Saad Rafiq Bhatti, was arrested again and charged with six offences, including dangerous operation and driving while under a suspension.

For some people the only way that you're going to stop them from driving, is jail.
This guy obviously fits the bill. He's not just driving, he's collecting DUI, hit and run and dangerous charges like he is the government collecting taxes. Many suspended drivers try to stay under the radar and proceed with life, this guy seems to actively attract attention.

EDIT:
Here is his collection of charges from Mar 8 stop:
On March 8, he was arrested again and charged with:

  • fail to comply with undertaking
  • dangerous operation
  • drive motor vehicle – perform stunt
  • drive while under suspension
  • use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates

Some impaired drivers are habituals, who will just never learn. It's just their way of life. Pretty sure my father fit that category.

No comment on the driving as I have no idea what caused this crash but the aftermath is interesting. Apparently happened on Hwy 11 between Barrie and Orillia. Videographer confused speed and momentum but damage is pretty impressive.

That guard rail literally shish kebabed the entire tractor trailer.

On private property?? I didn't think HTA applies. A mall crash killed someone north of us a number of years back and for that reason no charges were laid. Insurance would cover damages.

Dangerous driving would be different as it is criminal.

Hta shouldn't apply but does is some cases. 172 applies explicitly to parking lots, fields and lots of other areas off the road.

Depends upon where the act started, I suppose. As with that incident involving the destruction of two classic cars. And yes, I think that a case could be made for dangerous operation.

Interesting. Stupid woman leaves her suv running while she goes into bank. SUV gets stolen and nearby boyfriend chases the thief in his truck. Both crash (no contact mentioned). Thief dies. Boyfriend gets multiple dangerous driving charges.

A Dangerous Driving Causing Death charge is no joke. It's a possible "life" sentence.
