The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

I get it. You're early for your first pickup and you have to pull over and wait, but at least PULL THE **** OVER. Second day in a row she was stopped with the ass end of her bus sticking out half of the way into the live lane. It's a short one. It shouldn't be that difficult. First Student in Halton is the worst. I'd say they'll hire anyone with a pulse, but I'm sure there's at least one of their drivers on payroll that doesn't have one.

Into the ditch? That would be fun. Should maybe ask the land owner if they can pull in and turn around there. Interesting if it's the kid that's late.

There are spots both ahead and behind that one with plenty of room to pull fully off the road she's used in the past. Why she decides she just has to pull over there sometimes is a mystery.

Interesting if it's the kid that's late.

That's a field entrance. There are no houses with kids for her to pick up there. There's one house she does a stop at, about 4 km up the road from there.

Fak. Pull his license. Ass. He can walk for the rest of his life.

According to a news release, a school bus was stopped on Chesterton Lane on Oct. 14 with flashing lights and its arm extended.

A motorist allegedly turned into a driveway in front of the bus, pushed through the arm, and nearly hit the children exiting and the parents waiting on the sidewalk.

Police say that when the bus driver honked the horn at the driver, the man responded with an "obscene gesture".

A 68-year-old Guelph man was arrested Tuesday and charged with dangerous driving.

Hahahaha. Not your normal FOTC tickets. They probably should have handed them a careless ticket the second time as they are obviously braindead and lack the capacity to drive safely.

Police stopped the vehicle on Forks of The Credit early Sunday afternoon.

Police in Caledon say they stopped a motorist for driving slowly to check out the scenery.

"Yes...you...can...get...a...ticket...for...going...too...slow," OPP posted to social media.

"The vehicle was going a constant 20km/h under the speed limit resulting in a long line of cars to form behind it," provincial police said.

Michel said the same officer stopped the 59-year-old driver from Mississauga 10 minutes later "for going the opposite direction using their phone to film the colours."

Good. Those idiots slow everything down and there’s zero opportunity to pass them in that area.

Super frustrating going 15-20kph behind someone going out for a cruise.

Same happens at Algonquin but it’s 40-50kph. But at least you have enough line of sight to pass up there.

Dump truck driver that blew a red and killed two people Oct 12 in Markham has now been charged with multiple counts of dangerous driving (one for each victim). Cops seem to be handing out more dangerous charges recently. It would be interesting to see how many result in criminal convictions.

For the commercial drivers in the room, does a dangerous conviction affect your license/insurance much differently than a careless conviction?

Dangerous operation causing death is a Criminal Code charge. Minimum penalty is a $1000.00 fine. Maximum penalty if life in prison (so 20 years). That's on a first offence. Minimum penalty goes to 30 days in jail and subsequent offences are a minimum of 120 days in jail. I would pretty much say it's goodbye job prospects.

Given that it takes multiple offences or a single very serious one, like dangerous/impaired driving causing death to be suspended for life, nothing short of being locked up is going to stop this guy from driving. Even then it will only stop him for the length of incarceration.

Many of these people end up embracing the "Freeman on the Land" or "Sovereign citizens" movements, because they no longer have any legal recourse.

Suspended for life, impaired, holding a device, while not wearing a seatbelt o_O🤪🤯

You have to start charging the owners of these vehicles. They enable the behavior.

If the owner reports as stolen, everything changes.

When the driver starts going to jail for stolen property and using stolen property for criminal activity. They are removed from the streets.

I do wonder how many of these vehicles are owned by other people vs owned by themselves.

After getting a lifetime suspension amd getting caught again, a quick appearance in front of a jp (30 days or less) to argue why you should get the vehicle back seems reasonable. If your friend loses your car, that's a civil matter and you damn sure wont lend them another.

Back when I was in my early 20s.... somewhat related morally to the stories recently in this thread.

My buddy had a F350 with a homemade flatbed on it (total beast). He goes to a party and does the right thing as he will be drinking and hands his keys in at the party. Teenager with no license (lived at the house) decides to go for a joy ride. Other teenagers (gang related) spot him and start chasing him, at a light he decides to drop it in reverse and slam into them, glances off them and hits a third guy really really hard inflicting life chaning injuries..... and destroying the truck.

TSN turning point.... Cops show up at the party and ask the simple question, "did you give him permission to take the truck or was it "stolen"?". Buddy trying to be a "good guy" as he was friends with both the older brother and the teenager stupidly says he gave him the keys and it was not stolen. Now there is a grey area as he handed in the keys but in reality gave no permission.

Now it gets ugly, third guy sues for $1M, buddy had min at the time $250K coverage. Insurance basically said we will pay the $250K and you and the kid deal with the rest in court at your costs. Ended up a giant financial life changing hole for my buddy in court costs and bankruptcy....

Moral of the story, technically the truck was taken without permission and the law talking dudes were clear, he ****** himself trying to be a nice guy at the TSN turning point. Otherwise it would have been dealt with differently at the insurance level.

These idiots actually enabling the other idiots should get worse IMO as they are knowingly doing it, they seem to not be.
